Courtyard (Hotel brochure photo) by TheWanderingCamel What a great find this little hotel was. Tucked away at the end of Rue Veaugirard (the longest street in Paris) where the 5th and 6th arrondissemnts meet, the location was perfect, walking distance from just about everywhere I wanted to be during my most recent stay in Paris. Our room was small but so prettily furnished, with an equally pretty bathroom, up a tiny winding staircase and with a window opening onto the creeper-clad inner courtyard so we could sleep peacefully with the window open and no traffic noise or smells. The staff were most helpful - MrL took a liking to the soap they provided (decent sized blocks, very nice) and commented on it - that night there was a little parcel waiting for us - 5 of the soaps, beautifully wrapped.
Apart from the elegance and comfort the hotel offers, the location is marvellous - so much is right at hand - the Luxembourg Gardens, the Left Bank, Boulevards Saint Michel and St Germaine, Ile St Louis, Notre Dame, the Marais - all within walking distance. Paris is full of little hotels and I've stayed at quite a few over many years, but this is the one I would definitely come back to. The courtyard was a lovely place to sit with a book and a coffee for a spell between sightseeing during the day and going out in the evening. A lavish and delicious breakfast is served in a vaulted stone basement room dating from the 17th century when the hotel was the residence for Louis XIV's coachmen. leyle
