I booked this hostel through hostelworld.com so we were a little nervous of what it would be like. It turned out to be a great place to stay and we were happy with our choice. We booked a twin room with an ensuite and found ourselves with a lovely clean room and shower room and plenty space. Breakfast is included and was definitely adequate, staff were friendly and there was minimal noise for a hostel with a 24 hour reception. Only drawback was being on the fourth floor! But that is probably just our lack of fitness!
Bare in mind this IS a hostel, not a hotel. You won't get given towels and you will have to make your own bed on arrival.
Unique Quality: The hostel is only a couple of minutes walk from the underground station. Its not a party hostel which suited us fine, you can actually get a decent nights sleep here but still be on a budget. The hostel is also on the edge of Montmartre and within fairly easy (if uphill) walking distance of the Sacre Ceour, place de Tertre etc We walked there several times.
One thing that impressed me was when we left our cases in the luggage room after checking out. They had tickets to fill in - part of which was left attached to the luggage and part of which you kept and presented when you came to collect it. I'd never seen that before and definitely liked that added security.
Directions: Take metro line 12 to Jules Joffrin. You exit opposite the local city hall. Take the road on the left of the city hall then take the first left. The hostel is about the 3rd building along this road on the left.
A great place to stay. Saw some bad reveiws online, but those seemed to be more for the dorm rooms than the privates. Had a nice private room, with toilet and shower, and an awesome view of the Sacre Coeur form our window. Just around the corner from the underground station, all amenities nearby, walking distance to the Sacre Coeur. Very affordable and recomended for the private rooms.
Could someone please tell me what Le Montclair Montmartre youth hostel is like,
Is it safe to live there.
Is it clean.
Does the staff speak english
Are the showers clean
The room and linen clean
please let me know. thanks.
I don't know about that one, but another hostel worth trying in Paris is Le Village Hostel http://www.villagehostel.fr/ in the shadow of Montmartre (great view of the Sacre Coeur) – it is clean and has a nice staff. tél : 00 33 1 42 64 22 02; Email email@example.com Expect to pay 21.5 Euro for a dorm, 25 Euro per person in a double and 23 Euro per person in a triple. These prices include breakfast. The hostel is a block from the metro.
Another option is the Lucky Youth hostel www.luckyyouth.com which is located in either Montmartre or in the Latin area.
Another option is the Woodstock hostel www.woodstock.fr. This hostel is located in the Montmartre neighborhood (by the Basilique du Sacre-Cour).
