by pascale_paris about PERSHING HALL
This restaurant is located in a very beautiful hotel decorated by the designer Andree Putman. The clientele is "trendy". If the weather is fine, try the kind of "oasis" with view on the vegetal wall. Excellent freshness of food and excellent cooking.
Price is comparative with same kind of other restaurants, or a bit lower. Thon rouge juste saisi
Filet de dorade a la royale
Carre d'agneau

by ExGuyParis about Pershing Hall
Famed French designer Andrée Putnam "attacked" a townhouse built in 1890 to create a fascinating blend of minimalist modern and elegant Empire. This hotel, restaurant, and club, named for General John Pershing who used the building as his headquarters, is high-end chic, along the lines of Hotel Costes. Our meal in the bar here lasted several hours; great drinks and appitizers. We all were pleased with our main courses, and the desserts were wonderful. There were few tourists; our fellow-diners were all members of the "French beautiful people" society.
The restaurant and hotel seem to get polarized reviews on various websites-- either excellent/outstanding or horrid/terrible. We found the staff to be quite pleasant, the food was great, and the music is diverse and pleasant.
Dinner with a side of art
by Geisha_Girl about Renoma Cafe Gallery
Located along the swank Avenue Georges V in the gorgeous 8th arrondissment is the Renoma Cafe Gallery. It's a restaurant combining an eclectic menu with an eclectic collection of art.
Renoma holds its own amongst the many posh and trendy restaurants that surrounds it on that famous avenue (Pershing Hall, Black Calvados, Asia, etc...). We actually stumbled upon it when the other venues were booked solid that Thursday evening.
The wait staff is friendly and the decor was eye-catching. Everywhere you looked----whether it was the walls, the furniture, the ceiling----there was definitely a colorful object to admire: Artsy black and white photography, erotic paintings, kitschy furtniture.
The atmosphere is upbeat and in the evenings the DJ spins some solid dance music. The entrees were ok but HUGE portions compared to how entrees are usually served around Paris. (you can split an entree between two people!). If you order the Caesar salad, be sure to ask for the dressing on the side (unless you like your greens flooded with dressing). The dessert was scrumptious. They have a platter that let's you sample their variety of desserts....A little sample of the tiramisu and various sorbets......it was a perfect finale for the Birthday Celebrant.
