Apartment in Paris

by srgammans

I am traveling to Paris with my husband and two boys, ages 12 & 7 from Jan. 1 - 4 and am looking at apartments to rent. I have found one in the 7 Arr. on rue St. Dominique two blocks off rue Cler and one in the 17 Arr. on rue Rennequin off avenue de Wagram. The apartment on St. Dominique cost 40euro/night more than the one on Rennequin.

Is the location in the 7 Arr. worth the extra cash? Is one location better with kids then the other? Am I just over analyzing my housing decisions?

This is our first time to Paris and we let our kids get a good feel for the city, not just the tourist spots. I'm trying to raise future VTers!

Both locations are OK, none of them is more or less kid friendly than the other
well, rue saint dominique is a bit more elegant and central (closer to tour eiffel, champ de mars, ... and the 7th district is one of the most expensive in Paris)
but you always thave he metro and the busses near by

RUE CLER

by nygaston

RUE CLER is not far from Eiffel tower and Invalides.
Then you can go to les Jardins du Trocadero, la Tour Montparnasse...
The RER train can bring you to Saint Michel or Versailles.

Re: RUE RENNEQUIN, 17th district

by nygaston

RUE Rennequin is not far from Etoile, Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees.

if you like Museums and Shoppings, it is a good option with children.
The Parc Monceau is very nice, you must try it.

Hi,
The 17th is a bit off the beaten track, but with the metro you should be fine. One consideration is what you need to be comfortable as a family. For instance, I'm planning a 4 month stay next year and since I will be doing so much walking there, I've decided that having a bathtub to soak my weary bones is a big priority! It will cost me a bit more than an apartment with a shower only, but I'll compromise a bit on location to make up the difference. With two boys, space and convenience might be more of a priority for you.
I can suggest a couple of websites that have been particularly helpful in my apartment hunting, and in providing information about the various arrondissement: www.lodgis.com
www.paris-anglo.com
Hope this helps!
