Stayed at the Hotel Turenne not far from the Ecole de Mars. Loved every minute of it. November was actually a great time to go. There were no crowds for anything (walked right into the Louvre and Versaille and went right up the Eiffel Tower without a wait). Everyone was very friendly and most people spoke english, to my own discredit (but infinite gratitude).
I'm looking for a clean, inexpensive hotel in the 7th or 8th arrondissements, within walking distance of Avenue Montaigne.
The Hotel de Turenne at 20 ave. Tourville seems reasonably priced (it's a 2-star) and the photos look quite nice. Does anyone have any experience with this hotel?

Stayed at the Champ de Mars hotel on the 7th. Just off Rue Cler. It is an inexpensive, clean yet small rooms, and a wonderful staff consisting maingly of the couple that owns the place. Look it up on line.

Unfortunately, the Hotel du Champ de Mars has no rooms available, and 110 euros for the Hotel Powers is slightly out of my price range. I'm looking for something at 80 euros or less.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help. I will be traveling with my family (2 kids 9 & 12) from Frankfurt Germany to Paris by train. We will not arrive in Paris until 9:00 pm. Should we take the metro to the hotel or take 2 taxis?The address is 20, avenue de Tourville. The metro station for the hotel is Ecole Militaire. Will the metro be safe at that time. Merci
If you arrive at Orly Airport there is a shuttle (coach) Air France to reach the Invalides, just nearby your hotel.
If you arrive by Charles de Gaulle Airport, I suggest you reserve a shuttle (minivan 8 sits) at this website :

The alternative, is the taxi (aound 60 euros per car) because the express metro can be unsafe by night and surely long. There is no direct link to reach your hotel and you must take the RER + 2 lines.

The metro is safe at 9:00 pm.
IMHO, the main choice's criteria is the comfort : there are stairs and tunstiles in the metro (to consider with luggage)and you will have to get metro tickets, change metro line (either at Strasbourg Saint Denis or at Opera) and to walk at bit between Ecole Militaire and your Hotel.
There are some large taxis (monospaces) and you may want to look for one (they are in the same lines than the others)
To give you an idea, we often do a similar journey and pay about 10-12 Euros for the taxi (2adults and a 3years old)
I was asuming you were comming Gare de l'Est (and thus have to take only the metro).
If you come from an airport, the RER after 9pm is so-so and lenghty
METRO
From Gare de l'est you will have to go to Opera (10 mn) , then change (5 mn) and take line 8 to Balard (10 mn) , stop at Ecole Militaire, the hotel is not far from the metro station. But you will have stairs and to walk at Opera (it's not easy with luggages).
TAXI
I prefer this option when I have luggages.
I would recommand the taxi at 9pm because the traffic is better. You can ask for a big one at Gare de L'est. There is a lot of taxi because it is a station. You will be charged a small fee for each luggage.
From Gare de l'Est I would take the taxi option. The metro is safe but the correspondances involve long walks. There is an escalator at Ecole Militaire at one exit, but I can't remember seeing any at Opera.
