We will be in Paris for only 3 nights and have scoped out a couple of restaurants that we understand are quite small and would require reservations in advance. Given the sad state of my French, I noticed that our hotel had an email address and wondered if it would be a reasonable approach to email the hotel a week or so in advance and ask them to make reservations for us. Is this the best way to do this?
If it is a three star hotel minimum, or a hotel with a concierge then yes. If it is a small hotel then maybe try to call yourself the restaurant, they will most surely have someone speaking English there anyway
Yes, it is a 3 star hotel, the Hôtel Waldorf Montparnasse. I have stayed there before and there has usually been an English speaker at the desk. So you are saying that such a request by email would not be considered rude or odd behavior?
I've requested my hotels to make restaurant reservations in the past. Of course, it would be allright for you to email your hotel and ask them to help you out.
