Hotel de France - Invalides
Small, but nice and clean room with all needed amenities, great location, WONDERFUL buffet breakfast for 10 euro, friendly people. Free Wi-Fi. Definitely recommended!

I haven't stay at any hostels when I was travelling in Europe, but I heard it's the CHEAPEST.

I don't know what your definition of cheap means but for a family of 5 look into a family room setup.
For example, a hotel called Hotel de France Invalides in the 7th district has family rooms for around a little over 100 euros. I would think this is pretty good for 5 people. If you're interested you can find this hotel at www.parishotels.com. It's not a booking agency, you make the reservation directly with the hotels so there are no fees involved.
There are other inexpensive hotels offering family rooms as well. But like I said you should say how much is considered cheap to you.

Try searching under Apparthotels or aparthotels, which are short term let appartments, with kitchen, in a hotel setting. Eating in will be cheaper for a family of five than eating out all the time, (except for fixed price lunches, which can be reasonable.) Also avoid eating anywhere in the main streets next to any tourist attraction as the price is usually highly inflated.

Formula1 is a hotel-chain and they have rooms with 3 beds and wash-basin+TV in the room
Shower and WC on the corridor.
the room was about 19,- euros a few years ago ( 136 FF in 1998), close to Disneyworld, fenced parking included.
This is the room-price, without breakfast, no matter, how many people are in the room.
very simple room with a doublebed and 1 bed on top
