This hotel is located across the street from the Bank of France, close to the Louvre and the Seine River.
The hotel is run by a family and their prices are more or less competitive. Expect to find the desk of the hotel about three floors up.
The hotel is clean and efficient and the family will help you with directions, obtaining reservations, and getting you a taxi. This hotel isn't featured as a major player in the hotel industry but we liked staying here. When I was doing research in finding an affordable hotel there was a website called, Paris Pages. Through this site I could plug in the address of any sort of place in Paris and instantly there would be a picture of the street, a picture of what was next door on both sides and the view up and down the street. This website was very helpful in this and other hotels.
Dbl with shower and toilet is 52 Euros--taken from their website
Breakfast is 6 euros
Unique Quality: This is your basic hotel. Nothing fancy, but is safe, in a safe neighborhood, and close to good restaurants and walking distance to the Louvre.
There is a bar/restaurant directly under the hotel--see photo of red front.
Coming out of the hotel, go right to the corner and another right and you will find a most exceptional bakery for some of the greatest pastries in Paris. Pictures of this bakery can be found under local customs, check it out.
Then further down that street you will find several grocery stores and two more blocks to a huge amount of restaurants in the area around the Modern Art Museum/old Food Market.
Left out of the hotel will get you to a Mail Boxes/UPS type establishment, and further down you will reach the river.
3 min. walk to Louvre, 5 min. to Halles Quarter, 10 min. to George Pompidou Center
How to get there:
Metro Line 1 to Louvre
RER Station Les Halles
Bus 29,74,85,67,48
If you have a lot of suitcases, etc. take a taxi from the Metro or RER train station. You will thank me for this tip.....
Directions: see description above
I did not find cheaper than this.. for a double room it is 42 euro per night. The rooms are clean.. so are the bathrooms, but you don't get a lot of towels.. like 2 if you're lucky or none at all. We didn't have any tv in our room... neither in the two other rooms my family had. The weather was really hot.. there was no way to have fresh air in the room at the 6st floor. So we opened our door, blocked it with the bathroom door and opened our window..
My brother and my sisters had nice beds.. but i was not soo lucky. We had a small bed. one side was ok, but the other one was falling, so when i slept on that side i was always falling on the floor.. so i had to sleep with my boyfriend's feet at my nose to not fall over every minute..
Unique Quality: You have the toilets outside of the room.. you have to share them. You could get lucky for your bed.. and it is very very cheap.. and it is 3 corners from the Louvre.. 4min of walk and you're there.. So yes it is not that bad.. but if you're not lucky with the bed.. it is difficult to appreciate your stay when you can't sleep....
Directions: 3 corners from the Louvre
A cheap accomodation centrally located, near the Louvre Museum and close to the Place des Victoires.
In an ancient building remodeled but without elevator.
There are plenty of cheap restaurants nearby (see 2 on the picture). The street is also devoted to the leather shops.
And if you want to send a post card to VT you will have not to go very far : the yellow box on the picture is a mail box.
Unique Quality: The room for two worths 40/46€ according to the size with a private bath. All the taxes are included.
+ 4€ for the breakfast.
Directions: metro Chatelet-Les Halles or Etienne Marcel.
In front of the Banque de France Head Office. So I can say the area is safe because it is where France has its safe (be indulgent I am a foreigner).
I am wondering if anyone has stayed at the Petit Trianon located in Odeon in paris. just some simple questions,... is it clean, safe cute? How about the Hotel de Rouen by the louvre? I heard it was nasty. Your imput would be greatly appreciated.
Hotel de Rouen is a true budget hotel (around 45 euros). So the comfort is not high.
But it is located in front the Banque de France, with some restaurants downstair and nearby.
Louvre Museum is 8 mn walking distance of the hotel.
Ask for a room which does face the street because it is noisy.
