It is extemlly clean, nice , cheap ...it is a bit a distance from the center , but for the price ... it can do ..

From the center you have to take a 13( or more) metro station, than you have a few bus station...

  • I booked the Porte de Montreuil Etap Hotel based on the reviews on this website. Everything in the reviews was true.

And here is why I'll never stay at any Etap Hotel again.

Some of the other reviews have pictures of the bed, which features a double bed on the bottom, and a single bunk bed placed crosswise over the head of the double below. What the pictures don't show is that the double bed consists of a thin mattress on a raised platform. IT IS ROCK HARD! My back was sore the entire time I stayed there. It became obvious to me that the people who run this company have never actually slept in these beds!

There were other problems too. Other reviews mentioned that the hotel was air conditioned.
Well, I was there in October and the room was an oven for my entire stay, even with the thermostat at the minimum setting. Even so, the problem could have been easily rectified by opening a window, but they were fixed in place. Also, how can a 20 story hotel not have an ice machine? I don't mean for each floor, but for the entire hotel!

I loved having the mall and the flea market downstairs, and the metro a block away, but the bed was a dealbreaker for me. If you think I'm being a crybaby, give this hotel a try.

    Just don't forget the Tylenol!

Tough its a bit expensive for 50 Euro, but if you are 3 people travelling you can stay for just 3 more Euros. That makes it a nice stay. Rooms are clean with all basic necessities. It is air cooled, clean bed.

I also liked the buffet breakfast. Its a deal for 4 Euro. You get assorted bread, jams, butter, honey, Juice, tea, and not to foget the tasty hot Chocolate (I think its name was Montana).

Though its a bit faroff from the central Paris, but its just 3 min walk from Metro, and a nice market with some good restaurants.

Etap Hotel is a chain of Hotels and there are around 10 of them in Paris, but most of them are at the peripherique.

And there are arund 370 Etap Hotel locations, and many of which are in all parts of France. And they have Hotels along "Tour de France".

Ibis Paris Vanves Parc Expo: A good standard, good value for money hotel    Check Rates

  • The hotel is very new (built in late 90's) and has a good standard.
A single room was (at the beginning of 2004) 47 Euro for a room with single occupancy or 50 Euro for a room occupied by two or three persons.
Breakfast is not included in the rate but is only 4 Euro extra per person.
The location is in the 19th district in northeastern Paris, it may not be very central but with the Metro-station only 5 minutes walk from the hotel it is easy and quick to get to the main attractions.

Nice hotel and generally friendly staff.
All rooms (or at least most rooms) have a double bed and an extra bed. They are also equiped with a bathroom (toilet and shower) and a TV.
The standard is basic but considering the price and the location it is really good value for money.
The breakfast is also basic, a small buffet but still completely adequate.
There are vending machines in the lobby and some shops and cafes on the main street outside (Avenue Jean Jaures).

  • My sister and I stayed at this hotel in 2003 because it was cheap (US$40++ for double room). The advertisement claimed it was in Paris but it is not; It borders on the edge of the city and it's a 30-40 minute metro ride to Porte De Bagnolet (the end-station). The hotel was next to a shopping mall in the suburbs. The hotel and the room were not so great but it was clean and basic enough for sleeping at night.

The bedroom and bathroom were very basic with one window that faced an empty concrete area (really ugly view). There was a small TV on the wall, only a fan and no air-conditioner to cool the room. The furnitures of a table and a chair were metal and the beds were 2 twin beds and a narrow twin bunkbed above it. The mattresses and pillows were thin and made of form. But at least the twin beds have springs, so sleeping was not too bad (well, when you're dead tired, who cares!).

We didn't get breakfast with the room rate, and we were glad because the breakfast was very plain. Instead, we went to the shopping mall nearby and had decent tasty breakfast at the McDonalds. Well, it was the cheapest breakfast available then.

  • Directions: Take the metro to Porte De Bagnolet end-station. Walk out, pass a small mall, and it's up a hill. There is only stairs going to the reception.

After many, many visits to Paris, we have settled on what we think may be the best hotel deal in Paris. ETAP Port de Montreuil. We had room 503, with full bath, air conditioning, and a view of the Eifel Tower for 46 Euros per night! The Metro is just a block or two away, you can shop the mall next door without leaving the building, cybercafe just across the street, english spoken, AND on the weekends, the fabulous Port de Montreuil market just outside your door! Of course, this is not your inner city, centuries old, noisy, do they have an elevator or 4th floor walkup, place. We requested a non-smoking room and initially were assigned another room with a view of the inside of the building that smelled like smoke. After consultation with the front desk, we were assigned room 503. Room selection is important, or you will end up looking east at the rest of the building.

Great view of the city, including the Eifel Tower in the distance, attached indoor mall-type shopping center, cybercafe across the street, weekend street market, close to Metro, english speaking folks, friendly neighborhood, air conditioning, full bath, AND 46 Euros per night!
