A retreat in the centre of Paris

Have stayed in this area many times. we've commented on st Paul and Grand Hotel des Balcons (some of the other Odeon hotels).

We booked a premium room so had a Mac and air conditioning. room should have been 300euros but by booking early, it wa around half this price.

Plus side - air con, Mac, quiet, garden (fantastic - can take a bottle of wine down there and chill with a book), Wifi worked. shower was good. friendly. Spoke English if you wanted.

Only downside - rooms as small as with most Parisian hotels.

In summary - check for deals before you book a 'cheaper' hotel you may get a good deal here.

Unique Quality: the courtyard. Plus wifi works first time!

Perfect Location

My wife and I spent 4 nights in Hotel Jardin de l'Odeon and found its location to be its best asset. It's located on a narrow street a block from the Luxemborg Gardens, 2 blocks from the Metro, 3 blocks from St. Germaine (with its busy shopping and eating district), a 10 minute walk from St. Sulpice and no more than 20 minute walk either to Notre Dame or the Louvre. Even the catacombs were within walking distance (though we later learned to use the Metro and would have taken it over walking).

The hotel itself has comfortable but small rooms. It's very clean and has very help staff at the front desk. We would very much recommend check with them on restaurant suggestions; they hit a home run each time.

They serve a lovely continental breakfast.

Parking is none existent on the street. Not that there aren't any parking spaces, there are. We just didn't see any vacant parking spaces. We did see a lot of parking tickets being written one morning.

Unique Quality: The hotel is quite close the Luxemborg Gardens which is a delightful place to decompress from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

Great Location, Good Price

by A TripAdvisor Member

Great location! We stayed here over Tahnksgiving weekend '04 and found it to be a most pleasureable place to stay. The rooms are about what you would expect for Paris (small) however, they are clean as are the bathrooms. The room had a mini-bar and a safe which came in handy.
The hotel has a nice art decco lobby. The staff was friendly and helpful with making our dinner reservations.
I would stay here again and recommend it to others

Great lcation, super clean and brand new face lift

by TripAdvisor Member Ed_S_2004

Great location, super clean, super quiet and a brand new facelift. Except for the fact that they did not tell us 3 of the floors were under construction and scaffolding was covering the entire building - paint smells bad.
Breakfast can be expensive so negotiate it within the price of the room before you arrive.
Super restaurnats and the RER are less than 700 meters away.

Springtime in Paris

This hotel was good value for 3 star small Paris hotel. Quiet street, off the beaten track, comfortable room and bed, excellent location, the Jardin de Luxembourg is your backyard and bustling St germaine is your front yard. You can walk to the Seine and beyond and odeon is your Metro stop (beside the starbucks makes it easy to find your way back.) or gare de luxembourg easy walk with suitcases after train from airport. We only crashed here at night after walking 12 hours a day seeing everything. Explore Sorbonne area for less expensive cafes. We never ate petit dejeuner at the hotel. Pain de prince is 2 blocks for breakfast goodies to bring back to room and coffee from starbucks is best value compared to sitting in a cafe cost 22 eors for 2 coffees and 1 croisant. Lunch at au bistro de la sorbonne was delicious, filling and 12 eoros for the prix fix. Visit hotelinnparis for best price. We paid 105 euros a night during the week but the price on the door was 170. There are a couple more similar hotels on this block that looked good as well. I'd stay here again for value. Recent redecorated rooms were clean and satisfactory. enjoy your trip!

Loved Jardin de L'Odeon

by A TripAdvisor Member

Absolutely loved this hotel. Great location near many restraurants, shopping, Luxemburg Gardens, Notre Dame..........
This was my second vist to Paris and was very pleased with the neighborhood and easy walking distance to the areas noted above. Above and beyond the location the hotel was very clean, newly remolded, quiet, and the service was fantastic. During our week stay we met a handful of people at the front desk that all went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Everything from getting us a flower vase for my flowers to a plug for my curling iron and they were fun, friendly, and helpful every day.

Note - our two hotel rooms were #64 and #61, just across the hall from each other. Both were very beautiful #64 was much more spacious with a balcony, but we paid a little more for these options.

Nice personal hotel

Nice hotel with friendly staff in great location. Room was small but quite functional, comfortable with all the amenties advertised. As in all Paris hotels, breakfast is overpriced so we preferred to go around corner for our coffee. Location is close to RER stop from airport. Metro is nearby. Good restaurants all around. Easy walk to river, Notre Dame. Overall, a great stay.

Great hotel on a quiet Paris street

by TripAdvisor Member Bklyn628

My family and I, including my husband and 2 teenage children just returned from our European vacation. While in Paris we stayed at the Hotel le Jardin de l'Odeon. We had 2 rooms next to each other, one with a lovely ivy and flower covered patio with table and chairs. The rooms were somewhat small, but probably average by Paris standards. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms clean and updated. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. The location is great, walking distance from lots of sights but on a quiet little side street a few blocks from the Sorbonne and the Luxemburg Gardens. Lots of great little restaurants and a movie theatre just steps from the hotel. Great value for the money. We really enjoyed our stay and will definately stay there again when we return to Paris.

Great Little Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member TravellingJen

A wonderful little hotel! We stayed two nights at this terrific hotel in the Latin Quarter! The following is a summary of what we observed to be some of the accommodations plus and minuses:

Pro’s/ The Things We Loved About This Hotel:
•Centrally located in the Latin Quarter
•Close to the Metro Station!
•Very close to Starbucks! (which is right in front of the Metro station)
•Within a couple short blocks to the lovely and peaceful Luxemburg Gardens!
•Within walking distance to all sorts of terrific restaurants and sights!
•Beautifully decorated rooms!
•Very clean rooms and linens!
•Bathroom very clean!
•Pretty good security
•Room to store luggage
•Very friendly helpful staff! Even pulled up weather reports for us without being prompted.

Con’s/ Things To Keep In Mind If Staying Here:
•Rooms are small, but larger then many in Paris (was much larger then the awful tiny room we had at the “ritzy” Westminster Opera Hotel!)
•Walls are extremely thin….don’t go here if sleep is what your after! I was woken in the middle of the night just by the sound of my neighbor using the restroom (just peeing!)
•Streets are tiny, difficult to maneuver luggage to/from Metro station to hotel
•Bathrooms get extremely wet when showering, difficult to keep areas dry
•Also some very unfriendly and unhelpful staff…it’s just the luck of the draw of who is on that day!

Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Nice little hotel

by TripAdvisor Member AJJS

This was a really pleasant little hotel located in the St. Germain de Pres area. It is very close to the Jardins du Luxembourg, and a couple of RER and Metro stops, which made it convenient to travel to many different sites. The room was a decent size, very clean, and very nicely decorated. Breakfast was not included in our rate (I think it was 12 Euros per person), but there were many cafes closeby (and even a Starbucks) to grab a quick bite.
