More about La Manufacture
Loved this hotel

Hotel La Manufacture is a small, sweet botique-style hotel. For the money, you can't go wrong. It's located a bit away from the main Paris toursty stuff, but we kind of liked that. After a day of beating the pavement, you can take a short metro ride back to a neighborhood where people actually live and eat. The rooms were a good size for Europe and the hotel was clean. We'd recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris.
Good hotel

I and my wife went to Paris for New Year Eve.
We went to this hotel because of the comments I read here in this forum. This forum has been really helpful.
We did like the hotel. It is nice and clean and the employees are also nice. The standard room is very- very small. The lack of space is a bit annoying but you get used to it. And it is a nice room, well decorated and charming.
It is a good hotel on a quality-price basis, taking into account that hotels are very expensive in Paris.
It is well located and you get everywhere taking the metro, at five minutes walking from the hotel. The prices of the restaurants around are ok.
We specially recommend a typical parisian restaurant close to the hotel, where we had dinner at New Year's Eve:
AU PETIT BISTROT
89 Rue Mouffetard
75005 Paris
tel. 01.47.07.35.99
We paid 47 Euros for each menu excluding drinks. This is a great price considering the date (31st december). In fact, we returned one more time to have dinner there.
Pretentious staff

Initially we made our booking through the internet but upon arrival we were told that they had no record, even though we had a confirmed reference number. Thankfully they had a room available and so we took it for the night . The next day we had required assistance and politely asked reception for help in obtaining some phone numbers from the telephone book but were directed instead to a nearby internet cafe! This was typical of the kind of service they provided and having spent the 1 night there we packed up and booked into another hotel where we had more pleasant stay.
The accomodation was basic but clean and the rooms were small and the area noisy. Overall, I could not recommend this hotel and would advise anyone against it.
Nice!

We stayed in this hotel in November 05. I found the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The decor is nicely thought-out and it's clean, although the rooms are very small. The breakfast was nice but basic.
I only have two bad things to say: the breakfast area is incredibly small, almost to the extent that you're banging elbows with fellow diners; and I wasn't too enthusiastic about the area, Les Gobelins. While there are a lot of restaurants, etc, they were quiet and a little bit dull. Of course, you can take the Metro to where the action is but it can be a bit of a trial.
Can't beat it for the price

My friend and I were students (21 yrs old) studying abroad in Florence Italy and a bunch of us would travel on the weekends. After hitting and missing on numerous hostels throughout differnet European cities, we came to this hotel because we wated a little upgrade. For what we got, I'd have paid another 10 euro's a night. Our other friends stayed at a hostel about 2 blocks away and didn't have private baths, or tv in their room. It was the perfect place to come back to and only cost 3 euros a night more. THe lady at the front desk was so helpful and spoke good english. By no means in the heart of Paris but with their subway system its only a few minutes from the station.
Clean and friendly

A quiet, clean hotel in Les Gobelins, which is a little way out but close to Place D'Italie metro, and benefits from being away from the hoards of tourists on the Rive Gauche - you actually feel as you are in a place where people live. Great boulangerie on Place d'Italie where you can get a breakfast Pave for EUR1. Rooms are small but v. clean, my suggestion to mgmt would be to install shower screens or curtains so you don't soak the whole bathroom. Also not sure how well the lacquered MDF furnishings work - its as if the interior designer was torn between industrial modern and renaissance furrnishings, and in the end decided to make a fusion. But that's a side issue - staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. Whilst this was in the Hip Hotels book, its not really a designer hotel - its tidy enough, but its really just a pleasant, good-value hotel - there's no cutting edge or trendy design going on in case that's what you were after.
Overall poor.

I expected the room to be small and we were not surprised when it turned out to be exactly that. We had asked for a non smking room - what did we get? A room obviously used by a delegate at a chain smoking event & no we couldn't change. Bath towels were replaced by hand towels, although such was the small size of the bath towels in the first place we are clearly being overtly critical. Staff at breakfast were officious and very unwelcoming. Position of the hotel is okay but be prepared for serious noise- all through Saturday night an endless stream of drunks & other miscreants were brought noisily into the police station 25 metres away.
A little disappointing
by TripAdvisor Member tr999
It's not too bad, quite functional. Location-wise reliant heavily upon the metro. Easily a 20 minute journey to the opera...
We stayed in one of the largest rooms and it still was tiny, although newly renovated. The desk is about 30 x 50 cm and either you sit on the bed or now where.
Very noisy streets around, and the local police station with sirens...
Hotel people are extremely proud of their buffet - for us it was just disappointing. If you asked for a boiled egg, they made you pay (breakfast was 10 Euros) and it was served on a tray - I felt being in military again.
Convenient but noisy

Hotel is in a great location, rooms adequate if a litte small but given good price one has to be reasonable in your expectations. However biggest issue is noise. I was on the 5th floor and really suffered from street noise so suggest you review this issue. If it doesn't bother you then fine cheap place to stay, if it does you won't get a great night's sleep. Friendly place near lots of cafes and good for the metro so has many benefits for those who like a full on city life.

The hotel website has all the info/maps you need, in English:
http://www.hotel-la-manufacture.com/uk/acces.htm
It also has the Pink Panther theme playing. Sorry! :-)
