one night of indulgence all you need to enjoy this beauty, walk by it many times but this time try one night. The service is great, very friendly, and the facilities top notch. All is modern hi-tech, and very well service by a friendly staff. Cant say enough this is one of them...get it. I got a special rate for a suite at 145€
Unique Quality: the location near the porte maillot and walking distanct to arc de triomphe makes it perfect. Its one of the gems hotels of Paris, great views indeed yes the Eiffel tower too. and one of the best jazz nights in Paris.
Directions: just off porte maillot metro line 1 or RER A or bus from Beauvais airport.
This was awhile ago but the hotel was very nice if remember correctly. Someone who spends 50% of my time traveling I tend to be very critical of hotels but this one is not setting off any alarms. LOL Anyway, great hotel very close to train stop. Wonderful Crepe stand right outside the door. Friendly staff all around nice hotel.
Unique Quality: Deep rich red wood covered walls in hallways. New "Modern" decor, very trendyish bar area. Light airy and spacious rooms.
Directions: Facing the Paris Convention Center and a few minutes away from the legendary Champs Elysées and close to La Défense
Thank you everyone for your advice. We stayed at Le Meridien Etoile. Lovely hotel. And pretty good location. 10 minute walk from Champs Elysees. Metro station just a minutes walk down the road. Air France Shuttle/bus service to airport from across the road.
Taxi to hotel from Eurostar train station was 16 Euros (for 4 passengers and 2 suitcases)
A good shopping centre opposite the hotel with a great supermarket and a number of coffee shop's (great sandwich shop on the ground floor - can't remember then name but had an orange logo board - good breakfast great price)
The hotel itself was good. Rooms of reasonable size and clean. Our only issue was that the service was a little slow - assume this is due to the size of the hotel. Also no Kettles in room - therefore we had to get everything warmed up for the baby via room service.
Drinks prices are a little steep in the restaurant but as to be expected.
We would stay here again.
Unique Quality: Good Location
Good rooms (opinion based on rooms 5th floor upwards)
This hotel is not a dump but is a poor example of Le Meridien customer service. First, the staff are not very friendly and everyday their is some guest complaining about something. The hotel services are way below par and the rooms need a major overhaul. The chair in the room could excite someone with a hemorrhoid problem. Hard wooden chairs in a hotel room...cmon. I am on their President's Club foor and this is the most dismal President's club floor I have ever been on for any hotel. Second, the internet access which is paramount to business travelers is terrible. InterTouch needs to be dumped as an Internet Services Provider. The nickel and diming that this hotel does for Startwood Preferred Guest is absolutely ridiculous. You cannot make calling card calls from you room. You have to use the hotel lobby pay phone. Great customer service. When I read the reviews of other travelers who have visited this hotel they must not stay in hotels very often which I do all over the World. This along with the over-priced hotels in London rates up there with the most over-priced hotels in the World with the least amount of amenities for a price that is standard for European hotels in major cities. Someone rated their bed as the best...C'mon I have done better in a cardboard box.
Unique Quality: The only nice feature of this hotel is the lobby deck on the President's Club floor but you cannot even enjoy that with the dismal amenities they offer their President's Club guest. I have found more amentities in a Red Lion Inn or Motel 6 than this so-called 4 Star Hotel. I just do not understand what any of the positive rated reviews on this website can be thinking or their experience with top-rated hotels must be very limited. The only real benefits of this hotel is that the Air France bus is right outside the door, the metro 1 line is also right down the street and the neighborhood has a whole host of amenities. I am on the Presidents Club floor and I do not have a box of tissues in my room...Please tell me what is so special about that?
Directions: The area and proximity to the Metro is very central
Even the rooms on the 9th floor, where a special key gives access ,were smaller than we were accustomed to in a First Class hotel. I have an extreme reaction to heights, so with the bed placed facing the floor to ceiling window, I was not very happy, I slept on the side nearest to safety! The bathroom and toilet were separate, and again rather small. The room had a wardrobe, drawers, minibar and safe. The TV had English channels, not just BBC and CNN,
Breakfast was served in the Presidential Court where those only on the 8th and 9th floors had access. This is a small room where one can help oneself to drinks and snacks at any time of the day.
The decor was bland. The hotel tries to be environmentally friendly. You choose whether or not you want the bedding changed and towels replaced, and indicate by placing a card on the bed if you do, or putting used towels in the bath.
For those only staying a few days, I would recommend the hotel.
Unique Quality: The views from our room were nothing special, but the Eiffel Tower could be seen from the special lounge.
The hotel is on the shuttle bus route, so getting to and from the airport is easy and inexpensive. The Congress building has classy stores where you can window shop... The Arc de Triomphe is only a few minutes walk away. Cafes and an Irish pub are nearby, and the metro again is just round the corner, so the situation is good.
Directions: Opposite the Congress centre
I stayed 2 night at the Le Meridien Etoile. When I checked in and went to my (first) room, I found that it had not been serviced since the previous guest had left. Consequently the bed was unmade, there was trash laying around, and there were cigarette butts in the ashtrays. Luckily the staff was more than willing to rectify the situation and I was moved to a non-smoking room with a king sized bed - perfect! Per other comments on this hotel, I did find certain aspects quite unappealing. My bed did not even have a comforter - just sheets and a light blanket. The hallways to me seemed like they could have been quite impressive at one time, but the carpeting and furniture seemed extremely worn, as if they had not been updated in quite some time. Those comments aside, the room had a very nice bathroom with speakers, so you could listen to one of the TV radio stations while showering (there was a very nice jazz channel). The "extras" at the hotel did seem a bit pricey. Internet usage was 25 euros for 24 hours, or I think something like .60 euros per minute. The drink prices in the bar started at 25 euros, and the food in the restaurant was also quite steep. True it was a very nice restaurant, but there are better choices in very close proximity.
Unique Quality: The location of the hotel was the main appeal for me. It is very close to a metro stop, which basically means that the whole city is a block away. It is also very close to the Arc d'Triomphe and Champs Elysee, which makes for a delightful stroll from the hotel.
I stayed in a standard hotel room, and truly, it was a hole in the wall. But yet again, this is paris. We should be contented. Other than that, it should meet the requirements of the average traveller, despite the fact that it does not meet the budget of the average traveller.
Nevertheless, the hotel does have redeeming points. Its decor is warm and inviting. The lobby is classy and spacious. The staff are helpful and there is a reputable jazz bar in the lobby. And the most important thing i believe the guests here pay for is the location. It is near porte maillot train station, and withing walking distance to the arc du triomphe and champ elysees. The area around it is quiet enough at night, but by no means lacking in restaurants. In fact, one might be inclined to take a walk around the hotel, especially at night, considering the openess of the area near the hotel, and the pretty streets on the other side.
Overall, it is a good place to stay in for a visit, so long as you arent too fussy.
Unique Quality: great location and good view from one side
Directions: champ elysees
Huge with a very grand lobby.
The breakfast buffet was so diverse and inviting that you should not get filled up without leaving space for French bread and butter with your coffee.
The rooms were luxurious and very spacious and well-serviced. TV had almost all options regarding channels.
The bathroom was wide and very well fitted The toilet and the bath were in separate cubicles.
I would thoroughly recommend it.
Unique Quality: There is a fully equipped sports room, and a pool.
The views from the windows are good.
It is convenient for sight seeing as the Eiffel Tour and Arc de Triomphe are not far away.
There are shops, cafes and bars nearby. The Concord La Fayette is next door where the shuttles to Charles de Gaulle airport cost 13 Euro instead of the usual 60 .
This hotel is extremely over rated, the rooms are small, even at the "executive" level, the rooms were ridiculously small, no pool, the only thing good about the hotel is the lobby, the hotel front, and it's location. The parent company Starwood has now upgraded the level of this "it's" hotel to a level 5 from a level 4 for absolutely no reason, as of December it was a level 4 (which is too much), now a level 5, who knows maybe next year a level 6 ?? this is a category 2 hotel at best. The current rating of 5 by Starwood is the same as cheating you and me "the customers". when you arrive, the lobby is very nice, but when you go to your room, it's completely different, it's the total opposite. I personally would not pay a penny over $80 to $100.00 (U.S.Dollars not Euros) per night for this hotel. good luck.
Unique Quality: Location is close to shopping, arc du triomphe, metro.
For the price, this hotel was NOT what i expected. Iv'e stayed at Meridian in other countries, most recent being Hong Kong Cyberport which was FABULOUS. This Meridian was a DUMP. Perhaps the presidents floor had the amenities, but for 280.00 per night and 30.oo buffet breakfast - this hotel is NOT 4 STAR! The beds were not comfortable, 1 pillow and a horrible quilt. Carpet worn and ready to be replaced.
Stay at a smaller hotel for free continental breakfast and true charm. This place was a dissapointment.
Unique Quality: Nothing to rave about.......nothing.
We have to cancel our tomorrow's trip to Paris. Does anybody know how we can salvage our hotel reservation which was made via priceline.com? Here is what we have: Hotel: Le Meridien Etoile (Ck in: Dec 25; Ck out: Dec 31, 2005). Thanks!
