Even the rooms on the 9th floor, where a special key gives access were smaller than we were accustomed to in a First Class hotel. I have an extreme reaction to heights, so with the bed placed facing the floor to ceiling window, I was not very happy, so slept on the side nearest to safety! The bathroom and toilet were separate, and again rather small. The room had a wardrobe, drawers, minibar and safe. The TV had English channels, not just BBc and CNN, Breakfast was served in the Presidential Court where those only on the 8th and 9th floors had access. This is a small room where one can help oneself to drinks and snacks at any time of the day. The decor was bland. The hotelmtries to be environmentally friendly. You choose whether or not you want the bedding changed and towels replaced, and indicate by placing a card on the bed if you do, or putting used towels in the bath. For those only staying a few days, I would recommend the hotel.
The views from our room were nothing special, but the Eiffel Tower could be seen from the special lounge. The hotel is on the shuttle bus route, so getting to and from the airport is easy and inexpensive. The Congress building has classy stores where you can window shop... The Arc de Triomphe is only a fewminutes walk away. Cafes and an Irish pub are nearby, and the metro agqin is just round the corner, so the situation is good. I stayed 2 night at the Le Meridien Etoile. When I checked in and went to my (first) room, I found that it had not been serviced since the previous guest had left. Consequently the bed was unmade, there was trash laying around, and there were cigarette butts in the ashtrays. Luckily the staff was more than willing to rectify the situation and I was moved to a non-smoking room with a king sized bed - perfect! Per other comments on this hotel, I did find certain aspects quite unappealing. My bed did not even have a comforter - just sheets and a light blanket. The hallways to me seemed like they could have been quite impressive at one time, but the carpeting and furniture seemed extremely worn, as if they had not been updated in quite some time. Those comments aside, the room had a very nice bathroom with speakers, so you could listen to one of the TV radio stations while showering (there was a very nice jazz channel). The "extras" at the hotel did seem a bit pricey. Internet usage was 25 euros for 24 hours, or I think something like .60 euros per minute. The drink prices in the bar started at 25 euros, and the food in the restaurant was also quite steep. True it was a very nice restaurant, but there are better choices in very close proximity.
The location of the hotel was the main appeal for me. It is very close to a metro stop, which basically means that the whole city is a block away. It is also very close to the Arc d'Triomphe and Champs Elysee, which makes for a delightful stroll from the hotel.
