    Paris: CAVA in bed!

After our lovely experience at Le Meridien Covent Garden in London, we knew we wouldn't expect anything less than comfort and professionalism at Le Meridien Etoile in Paris. (Actually, we're just ADDICTED to the Hermes body soaps they provide!)

Our room on the President's Club Level was comfortable and suited our needs perfectly.

Every morning we were waken up with fresh cafe creme, a gourmet breakfast buffet, newspapers, and an extraordinary view of the famous Paris landmarks! (Sacre Coeur seemed an arm's reach away, and the Eiffel Tower was glistening at us)

Just like our room in London, the bed in our room in Paris was just how we liked it.........not too soft, not too hard, but JUST RIGHT!

Le Meridien Etoile is located on the Right Bank of Paris, facing the Palais des Congres. The metro stop is Porte Maillot and right beneath a convenient shopping mall!

The Club President rooms are decorated in an art deco style, and of course the luxury Hermes amenities are the BEST! Plush bathrobes and slippers are provided and your own private Reception desk.

The outdoor terrace was one of my favorite spots. During our last breakfast at the hotel, as we dined near the terrace window, the morning sky was crisp and clear and we had the most exquisite view of the Eiffel Tower.

We left Paris with everything "Cristal Clear!"

It was an especially luxurious stay for someone who had spent 2 1/2 weeks in the remote Nicaraguan jungles and islands.....where hot water was scarce and tarantulas were in abudance!

    Simple Luxury!

Le Meridien Etoile: Hotel Near the Convention Center    Check Rates

  • This hotel is one of Paris's largest where the Air France flight attendants and crew are based. Being a large hotel it caters to the tour groups, businesspeople who want to be near the convention center, and to anyone else who happen to randomly choose this hotel.

The location is in the 17th district which is near to the convention center. That's pretty much all there is to see in this area. The hotel's name, Etoile, is derived from the location being off one of the Pl. Charles de Gaulle Etoile's (star) spokes or streets leading off of the intersection at the Place.

You will definitely need to use the metro in order to see the sights. There are really a good variety of restaurants in this area as well.

The rooms are not charming. Being a cookie cutter high-rise, chain hotel, you can't expect individuality in room decor.

It's a pretty functional, chain hotel with no charm whatsoever. It could be any other chain hotel in any other part of the world. You'd never know it's Parisian except for the staff.

After searching the web for a resnable priced hotel(which was almost imposible)This was the only hotel that got us a very good corprate rate.
We got a double bedroom(European standard)which is like a single American size(LOL) for 117 Euros.
They also offerd us a crib for my little son.

It`s location is very good(within walking distance to the Champs Elysees).
And it has a very good hair drier(hehehe best thing when you have a curly hair ;-)

$280 US a night including breakfast for 2, For this price and it being a Le Meridien I did not expect the worn out comforter and the dingy un updated room. The breakfast was $25 each and was not very good.

If the rooms look half as good as the hallways do this place would be a winner.

I stayed in Le Meridien Etoile during all my visits to Paris. The hotel was huge, it had like 100 rooms on each of its floor so navigating the hallways could be quite dizzying. I stayed in the standard rooms during all my stay, it's quite comfy but smallish for American standards. In truly French fashion, the rooms had two separate little rooms for bath and toilet :) The lobby was huge and always buzzing with activities, while the breakfasts in the cafe were marvelous.

Location wise, the hotel was fantastic. It's located across from Palais de Congress which is Paris' landmarks. The Palais de Congress houses a metro station (Porte Maillot) so getting around Paris would not be so difficult and a large shopping mall. The hotel is also a 10-minute walk from L'arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees. The neighborhood around the hotel was nice, clean and safe to walk about during the day or night. It had non-touristy outdoor cafes and restaurants as well as quaint, little flower shops and grocers.

I enjoyed all my three stays in Le Meriden Etoile and would not hesitate to stay here again when I go back to Paris.

Great location near metro station, shopping mall, L'arc de Triomphe/Champs Elysees.

  • For the price, this hotel was NOT what i expected. Iv'e stayed at Meridian in other countries, most recent being Hong Kong Cyberport which was FABULOUS. This Meridian was a DUMP. Perhaps the presidents floor had the amenities, but for 280.00 per night and 30.oo buffet breakfast - this hotel is NOT 4 STAR! The beds were not comfortable, 1 pillow and a horrible quilt. Carpet worn and ready to be replaced.

Stay at a smaller hotel for free continental breakfast and true charm. This place was a dissapointment.

    Nothing to rave about.......nothing.

Even the rooms on the 9th floor, where a special key gives access were smaller than we were accustomed to in a First Class hotel. I have an extreme reaction to heights, so with the bed placed facing the floor to ceiling window, I was not very happy, so slept on the side nearest to safety! The bathroom and toilet were separate, and again rather small. The room had a wardrobe, drawers, minibar and safe. The TV had English channels, not just BBc and CNN,
Breakfast was served in the Presidential Court where those only on the 8th and 9th floors had access. This is a small room where one can help oneself to drinks and snacks at any time of the day.
The decor was bland. The hotelmtries to be environmentally friendly. You choose whether or not you want the bedding changed and towels replaced, and indicate by placing a card on the bed if you do, or putting used towels in the bath.

For those only staying a few days, I would recommend the hotel.

The views from our room were nothing special, but the Eiffel Tower could be seen from the special lounge.
The hotel is on the shuttle bus route, so getting to and from the airport is easy and inexpensive. The Congress building has classy stores where you can window shop... The Arc de Triomphe is only a fewminutes walk away. Cafes and an Irish pub are nearby, and the metro agqin is just round the corner, so the situation is good.

  • This hotel is not a dump but is a poor example of Le Meridien customer service. First, the staff are not very friendly and everyday their is some guest complaining about something. The hotel services are way below par and the rooms need a major overhaul. The chair in the room could excite someone with a hemorrhoid problem. Hard wooden chairs in a hotel room...cmon. I am on their President's Club foor and this is the most dismal President's club floor I have ever been on for any hotel. Second, the internet access which is paramount to business travelers is terrible. InterTouch needs to be dumped as an Internet Services Provider. The nickel and diming that this hotel does for Startwood Preferred Guest is absolutely ridiculous. You cannot make calling card calls from you room. You have to use the hotel lobby pay phone. Great customer service. When I read the reviews of other travelers who have visited this hotel they must not stay in hotels very often which I do all over the World. This along with the over-priced hotels in London rates up there with the most over-priced hotels in the World with the least amount of amenities for a price that is standard for European hotels in major cities. Someone rated their bed as the best...C'mon I have done better in a cardboard box.

The only nice feature of this hotel is the lobby deck on the President's Club floor but you cannot even enjoy that with the dismal amenities they offer their President's Club guest. I have found more amentities in a Red Lion Inn or Motel 6 than this so-called 4 Star Hotel. I just do not understand what any of the positive rated reviews on this website can be thinking or their experience with top-rated hotels must be very limited. The only real benefits of this hotel is that the Air France bus is right outside the door, the metro 1 line is also right down the street and the neighborhood has a whole host of amenities. I am on the Presidents Club floor and I do not have a box of tissues in my room...Please tell me what is so special about that?

  • I stayed 2 night at the Le Meridien Etoile. When I checked in and went to my (first) room, I found that it had not been serviced since the previous guest had left. Consequently the bed was unmade, there was trash laying around, and there were cigarette butts in the ashtrays. Luckily the staff was more than willing to rectify the situation and I was moved to a non-smoking room with a king sized bed - perfect! Per other comments on this hotel, I did find certain aspects quite unappealing. My bed did not even have a comforter - just sheets and a light blanket. The hallways to me seemed like they could have been quite impressive at one time, but the carpeting and furniture seemed extremely worn, as if they had not been updated in quite some time. Those comments aside, the room had a very nice bathroom with speakers, so you could listen to one of the TV radio stations while showering (there was a very nice jazz channel). The "extras" at the hotel did seem a bit pricey. Internet usage was 25 euros for 24 hours, or I think something like .60 euros per minute. The drink prices in the bar started at 25 euros, and the food in the restaurant was also quite steep. True it was a very nice restaurant, but there are better choices in very close proximity.

The location of the hotel was the main appeal for me. It is very close to a metro stop, which basically means that the whole city is a block away. It is also very close to the Arc d'Triomphe and Champs Elysee, which makes for a delightful stroll from the hotel.
