We picked this little hotel because it is quite strategically located in the city centre and not extremely expensive. Many main attractions are well within walking distance: Grand Palais and Avenue des Champs-Elysees is 10 minutes for instance. Though rooms are very basic and rather small, it turned out to be a good choice.
Unique Quality: One of the pro's of Paix Madeleine is that it's one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in (with family members suffering from dust allergy, I've become an expert on this). Another positive surprise was the almost un-Frenchly varied and comprehensive self-service breakfast in the cosy little lounge. Very friendly and helpful staff too.
This charming two star hotel is located near the towering Montparnasse building in the heart of the rue Cler neighborhood. A sizable number of breezy boulevards and charming eateries are located in the vicinity, as are several of Paris' signature attractions including the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower. Twenty three small but clean and comfortable rooms provide basic amenities such as telephones and televisions, as well as private showers, sinks, and toilets. The staff are multilingual, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. A small elevator (capable of supporting two tightly squeezed people) transports guests to the upper rooms.
Unique Quality: For its good location, clean rooms, affordable price (Doubles with bath are around €80), and coutious staff, the Hotel de la Paix is an excellent option for low budget travellers who desire the privacy of a hotel.
Directions: rue Cler neighborhood.
