 | Paris Les Argonautes Reviews | Tips 1 - 3 of 3 | | We stayed at Hotel les Argonautes in May 2003 when in Paris at the end of a 2 week driving holiday across France. The hotel is located in the heart of the Latin Quarter (5th Arrondissement), very close to the Seine and about 5 minutes walk from Notre Dame Cathedral. The nearest metro stop is only a minute or two walk. Surrounded by restaurants, cafes and bars, you are never far from the action in the Latin Quarter….guess it just depends what sort of action you are in to!
Hotel les Argonautes is a 1 star hotel but we were happy with the facilities on offer. Our room had a bathroom, though some rooms do not (request on booking). The rooms were pretty compact, but big enough…when in Paris there is no need to spend too much time in your hotel room. The only negative was that it was pretty noisy….though we were pre-warned and did pack our ear plugs. Our room looked out over the very busy Rue de la Huchette which is lined with (dodgy looking) Greek restaurants. Each evening the restaurants seemed to have a routine of smashing plates in the street to attract customers….so don't plan on early nights if you stay here! Leave a Comment |

A hotel with more mirrors than a fun house at the country fair, Les Argonautes pleases your pocketbook and amuses your taste of oddities. (Try to count the used teabags lined up in circular rows underneath the glass top tables in the office and you will know what I mean). Sitting directly above a Greek restaurant, the office and all the rooms have a collection of eclectic furniture and more eclectic decoration, but all are very clean and of decent size. Our bathroom has a very deep bathtub and an endless amount of hot water, which proves to be just what the tired body needs after hours of walking each day. The bed is firm, the sheets are crisp, the pillows are long, the towels are good sized and absorbent, the security is good, the metro stop is a few steps away, and all the basic amenities are there without prompting. One thing that may bother a sleep-deprived traveller is the noise from the row of Greek restaurants below. Bring earplugs, ask for a room in the back and on higher floor, or try not to have any deep sleep before 1AM. After all, the reason you stay in the Latin Quarter is to be in the thick of things. You wouldn't want to defeat that purpose by falling asleep at 10PM, would you?
Hotel Les Argonautes doesn't have email address and doesn't send confirmation via fax. Telephone is the only method of communication.
