Nice smart hotel-good prices -tasty breakfast
Although this hotel was slightly further out than others (it was located near the cities des sciences) it was still in a very busy cosmopolitan area with restaurants and bars and shops and the pretty st martins canal.Because this was our third time in Paris we were very familiar with the metro so were happier to pay a cheaper price to get a hotel a liitle further out(but only a few stops from gare du nord which was ideal for eurostar arrivals like us!)

Looking cheapish hotel... anyone know about Libertel Canal St martin?
Looking for a cheapish hotel in a resonable area - I'll be travelling alone so needs to be safe area. Anyone know anything about this hotel - Libertel Canal St martin, has I have found a good deal on it. Or can you recommend anywhere else?

www.ratestogo.com often has good hotel deals for Paris. Le Jardin D'Eiffel is on their list and is a nice 2 or 3 star place in a very nice neighborhood in the 7th. You can look up any hotel on www.tripadvisor.com - fairly objective comments from previous guests.
