"Rive Gauche"
Hotel Marignan on rue de Sommeraard....stepping into a family run hotel/hostel with such benefits--being able to cook in the kitchen and not eat out! YUM!
The unusal art by ex-pat Americans Lori and Lorenzo still adorn the commons and animate the interior. Although they're gone, their artistic values can be appreciated. No photo available...but will find one soon.

Please Help - Hotel Location
by dwychan
I'm planning to stay in Paris for 4 days but has some difficulties in choosing the hotel. Below is some of my choices
1. (Hotel Marignan, Paris)www.hotel-marignan.com
2. Hotel La Manufacture (near Place d'Italie)
Might I get your comment on this?
Personally, my pick is 2. But I am worried that Location 2 is far away for most of the attraction. Do you have any ideas that how long it takes from Metro Place D'Italie to spot like "Museum du Louvre"?
Thanks

By metro, place d'Italie to Pont Neuf (Ile de la Cite, Louvre) is 10 to 15 minutes

I don't kow the Hotel Marignan at all, but the Hotel de la Manufacture has a reputation of being a very reasonably priced decent hotel. I've read a few good reviews of it although we've never stayed there. You could check for reviews of both hotels at http://www.tripadvisor.com/
We have stayed out near Place d'Italie and there are excellent Metro connections to the rest of Paris. We usually ate breakfast at our hotel and took the Metro into central Paris for a day of sightseeing. We ate dinner in the center of town near our tourist attraction du jour. In the evening we ate a light supper at one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood of our hotel. Since it was out of the major tourist areas, it was quiet and inexpensive and the food was usually excellent. It's a taste of the "real" Paris, if you like.
One the the nice things about the Metro ride into the center of town from Place d'Italie is that a section of the ride is above ground (not underneath) so you get some great views of the Eiffel Tower and other things.
Whatever you choose, have a good trip.

Paris accommodation in Sep 2010
by ara2
Hi
My younger sister and our cousin are coming over and planning to visit Paris sometime during mid Sep. This will be their first time in Europe so I would love to hear some suggestions esp re accommodation.
If possible, could someone suggest cheap accom - less than £50 per night, which is quite centrally located, ie - within walking distance or short metro ride or batobus ride to the tour eiffel/ louvre or other touristy site. They might include disneyland paris in the itinerary so great / easy connection to RER is to be considered as well. The most important thing are easy access and safe surrounding for the girls.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Family Accomodation in Paris
by jhoolko
My family and I will be heading to Paris for three days as a part of their first trip to Europe. I have been to Paris before, but my parents and teenage brother and sister are going to want to see as much as possible in a day. We would like to find accomodation that is central, but still affordable, for a family of 5. We are more than willing to squish into small accomodations, but we're aware that this is not always possible. We would like to spend less than 200 euros/night, preferrably a lot less, without having to sacrifice convenience (and we'd love if the place were clean and decent!) Any suggestions on hotels or areas at least? Is an apartment an option, or should we stick to hotels? Thanks a lot!

The hotel Esmerelda has quads and is pretty central to "stuff". (01 43 54 19 20). I know the the Hotel St. Jacques has rooms that adjoin to others that may sleep five (www.paris-hotel-stjacques.com). Call and ask if they will accomodate you with an extra bed. Hotel Marignan has quints (www.hotel-marignan.com). They are 120, 152, and 150 respectively. I have not stayed at the Marignan, the others are o.k. I recommend not waiting to find rooms as we appraoch summer as odd (quads quints) will go quickly and two double rooms will break your budget quickly. Have a fun ( and hopefully roomy) time!
