This hotel is a must-avoid. We booked a room here for a weekend only to find that it was double booked. This was on arrival, no advance notice given. We were offered a room (by a receptionist who spoke no English) for the Friday night in a hotel owned by the same group called the Hotel Fortuny. That hotel's room was stiflingly small, with awful decoration. Was it clean? Absolutely not. The bathroom floor was filthy and there were huge stains on the bedrooms wallpaper from goodness knows what. To add insult to injury the manager the following morning was completely unapologetic.
So after having suffered that ignomy we had to pack up our stuff and move back down to Hotel Marigny. We complained again about Hotel Fortuny and got no help and indignance about the suggestion that it had been dirty. Hotel Marigny's room was not quite as small however its en suite was somewhat eccentric. There was a shower, a wash basin and yes, you've guessed it, a bidet. No toilet. Eventually we discovered the toilet in a closet the other end of the room that we had presumed to be a wardrobe.
We could not possibly recommend either hotel, and particularly the group for double booking. Avoid at all costs.
Unique Quality: Awful. Abominable. Avoid.

I am looking for a hotel within walking distance of the Roissy Bus Stop (Opera Garnier area) around EURO 90 per night, preferably with a hotel garden/courtyard (as hopefully the weather will be sunny in July and we would like to eat breakfast outside.
Can anyone recommend a nice, clean, friendly hotel in this area? There are so many to choose from but a personal recommendation would be extremely helpful.
Is the Paris opera district a nice area to stay in, ie, is it relatively safe to walk at night and does it have nice places to sit and picnic?
Also, where is the nearest hop-on hop-off bus stop to Opera Garnier?
Sorry so many questions, but any replies very gratefully received.
Not a hotel recommendation but yes that is a nice (generally expensive, being in the centre of town) area to stay in and the nearest hop-on, hop-off bus stop is probably Opera, click on l'Open Tour on here, for example http://europeforvisitors.com/paris/articles/paris-sightseeing-buses.htm
I've always stayed at the Marigny near the Madeleine, but its current rates start at 95 EUR http://www.paris-hotel-marigny.com/english-France-Hotel-Marigny/Rates-Marigny-Hotel-Paris-France.htm
Thanks for this. The recommendation sounds like a nice hotel and I may decide to stay in it.
