Hotel Duquesne, ave Lownendal, diagonally across the street from Ecole Militaire. Our room had a standing terrace with a direct unobstructed view of the Eiffer Tower. It's just 1 or 2 blocks south of Invalided and Musee Rodin. I have the room number at home, if you want it.

Room 48 of the Melia Colbert in the 5th. The hotel itself is a couple of streets in from the main boulevards and is only about 200 meters from Notre Dame and the Ile de Cite.

the duquense eiffel hotel has rooms with a great view of the eiffel tower. I could lay in my bed and watch it sparkle every night. Trip advisor has some awesome traveler photos. just type in hotel name, and go to candid photos. It is also in a excellent location.

yes, my room was right next to the corner room. I had to sit at the desk to see the Eiffel Tower, but that was just fine with me! In February 2009, i paid 225USD per night. I consider it to be a 3 star hotel with an new, excellent private bath. I never turned on the TV once; why would I?! I think the room was named the "Champs Elysees" Room; just email Julie, the lovely and helpful hotel manager. Breakfast, Not Included (it usually isn't, anyway), was the good ol' fattening unlimited eggs, croissants and breakfast meats, for 15 Euro. Very close to rue Cler, and only 2 blocks from Ecole Militaire Metro (8 line, I believe). Twice I walked to Arc de Triomphe from the hotel: straight up avenue Bosquet, which becomes George V after crossing the Seine. When you hit Champs Elysees, make a left and walk uphill.

There's one right by the Seine with a view of the river and the Notre Dame. It's absolutely gorgeous in the summer evenings, the river sparkling and people chatting downstairs at outdoor cafes. It's also right next to the Shakespeare Company (in case you like old books). Kinda.. magical, really :)

We were in a corner room, 52 I think (can't believe I remember that!). Very central, very beautiful. I'd definitely recommend it. Rooms seem to be of very different standard though.

I think it was called Le Notre Dame, 1 Quai Saint Michel... having big problems locating it though, but I think that was it :)

Travel Tips for Paris

by allure

have a map with u: tick out those where u want to go & get on the metro & go, that easy! don't buy metro ticket one by one, 10 tickets=FR58.00. or u can buy weekly etc. besides, to walk around is also very easy. besides, money change is quite important! the rate around my hotel was 1US=6.5FR, however, in No. 13 District, it's 7.04! big difference! and, go to BOURSE also (metro 3).

Paris by foot

by Imbi

If you can afford then try Paris city by foot. It is a different experience; get yourself a nice decent map of the city, which could take you back to your centre point. Worse come worse if you are lost treat yourself get a cab and go to your destination. Exploring city by foot is a different experience.

La Defense

by Lilasel

This skyscraper business city on the western edge of Paris is the largest office developement in Europe. La Grande Arche is an enormous hollow cube large enough to contain Notre-Dame cathedral. Designed by Danish architect Otto von Spreckelsen in the late 1980s, the arch houses an exhibition gallery and a conference centre, and offers a superb view over the city.

Everybody has a dog but they're pretty well mannered. :) This dog's name is 'Nelson'. The waiter explained that he was the owner of the cafe were we had our lunch. He sat at the table next to ours. Is that Pernod I see...?

Famouse personages graves

by ludogatto

here you can find the graves of very important personages, writers, painters, artists and also singers rock.... I was a little bit astonished to see the pilgrimage of young and not on the simple headstone of Jim Morrison, boys who sang, adults who cried. The cemetary is rather beautiful, there are various works of art to adorn it and it is worth it going around to appreciate the tranquillity of the monumental cemetery.
