The first hotel is the Mercure Paris Ivry Quai de Seine, renamed from former Tulip Inn Paris Ivry Quai de Seine. I have stayed in this hotel in the year 2001, 2002 and despised it so much that I have it in my reject-list. Unfortunately, unaware of the name-changed, there I was, so shock that I was booked in that hotel again.
The Mercure Paris Ivry Quai de Seine or whatever name it takes is a hotel with all the windows sealed off and with very weak or almost no air-condition in the room, sometimes one really wonders how can the city of Paris agree to such a unventilated condition for their tourists. The hotel is really in a state that is not fit for human dwelling.
And the staffs at the reception and at the breakfast room are so untrained that I could hardly believe I was staying in one of the Tulip Inn or Mercure chain hotel !!!!!
The hotel in London is almost a replica of the one in Paris, it was called The Paragon hotel when I first stayed there in the year 2002, now renamed Ibis London Earl Court. During my recent trip, I was given a floor where renovation is underway, one gets to be very careful when travelling from the lift to the room because there were notices of 'wet paint' hanging everywhere and on the floor. The wallpaper in the room are of very rough finishing, one can see wires protruding from the ceiling and from the floor carpet. And talking about carpet, they are more like rag to me, so filthy and soiled !
All in all, the entire hotel is in an unspeakable shape, with dirty bed spread, unfunctionable wash-handbasin, screw juts out in bed, burnt out lamp shade, one of my guests' room has no ceiling cover, he could see all the raw wiring once he laid down to sleep and he thought that was the latest art of room decoration !
