The Mercure Monty - because its on the Rue Montyon - is in a superb location, just two minutes from the Grand Boulevards metro station (or Cadet on Line4), but it is not the easiest pace to get to with heavy luggage...just that bit too far from the Metro and a lot of steps..and narrow pavements.
Local streets abound in character with excellent bars, cafes, restaurants seconds from the door.
The hotel has WiFi internet connection (although mine didn't work properly for two days) and a single, v-e-r-y s-l-o-w elevator. You can miss flights waiting for this skanky little people-mover.
Unfortunately, the Monty managed to lose my laundry, but took it all very seriously and are mailing it all back to me. Hopefully not one at a time.
Unusually, the bathroom was as big as the bedroom.
The hotel has "low grade" air-conditioning which is helpful in July and August when temperatures and humidity can soar: why do you think Parisians go elsewhere at that time of year? It's not just to avoid the vast hoardes of tourists swamping the city.
