A stone throw from the Eiffel Tower

    by

We stayed at this hotel on our first trip to Paris, in August 2008, and we where very satisfied. The hotel is nice and the rooms where clean. The hotel restaurant and brerakfast buffet was OK, but when you are in Paris, you eat other places. There are lots of otions near the hotel. We only had lunch upon arrival and breakfast the day we left. The staff was very helpful, and their english abilities was generally good. The best thing about it is the location though, just a couple of blocks west of the Eiffel tower makes it a good starting point for exploring Paris. With easy access to the Eiffel tower it is easy to see it both during day an night (which is a must), Public transport(metro, trains, busses and river boats) is available near the hotel. And if you are checking out the sights, the hop-on-hop-off busses are all stopping at the Eiffel tower of course. I would recomend this hotel to anyone going to Paris :)

Unique Quality: Very close to the Eiffel Tower. Nice and clean, very helpful staff.

Directions: 3 minuttes walk west of the Eiffel tower

    Mercure Paris Eiffel Suffren

    by

I do recommend this hotel, it is very clean and the service was excellent. It is right around the corner from the Eiffel Tower, so the location wasn't too bad. The hotel rooms were a bit small, but otherwise nice and clean. Hotel buffet breakfast includes chocolate croissants and other breads, fruit, eggs, sausage/ bacon, cheese & coldcuts, potatoes and a couple of beverages. The only thing we had a problem with on the first day was the elevators! They aren't your regular programmed elevators, but eventually you will get used to it and it won't be a problem at all.

Unique Quality: bar, 2 patios, 2 computers (in the lobby), gift shop, blowdryers, television

Good location

Close to the underground and near a few eating places, not a bad spot. Certainly not central or within walking distance to the sights of Paris. But just a short tube ride away.

Looking for charming, this isn't it...But, this hotel does have it's appeal

by TripAdvisor Member Sandra_TEE

If you are looking for charming, ritzy, trendy or historical, etc., this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a great place to sleep, shower and have a great day starting breakfast, in a fantastic location, this is a wonderful place.
Stayed at the Mercure Paris Tour Eiffel Suffren and found it to be just fine. For the price we paid, this hotel was way above average and worked out beautifully for us. A great area location with quiet, clean, and efficient rooms. We were extremely surprised and delighted with the breakfast buffet that was included with our stay.
We found there to be mostly European business travelers and tour groups here so the usual hotel chaos was at a minimum. We had great desk staff, room attendants and room service, all were very helpful and friendly. We would consider this hotel again.

Great location, average hotel

We usually stay in Accor hotels as they offer big discounts if you book online in advance. We choose the Mercure Paris Suffren because it offered a great price for a 4* hotel by the Eiffel Tower.
The location was excellent. When we arrived, very tired, late at night, the hotel was easy to find and the check-in was fast and efficient. The hotel is also very well placed for getting easily around the city. Other good things about this hotel were the friendly and helpful staff and the nice cosmetics in the rooms.
The rooms were smaller than you would expect for a 4* hotel and, although the rooms were clean, the wallpaper and bathroom tiles looked slightly shabby in places.
Overall, I think this hotel is slightly below the standards that you normally associate with a 4* hotel, but the price reflects this and the location more than compensates.

Very poor value

by TripAdvisor Member Solotrip

I stayed 1-night - the small room (1030) was worn, the bathroom cramped & the toilet was located in an adjacent seperate cubicle room (I could not confortably use this without the door being left open it was sooo small!!!!).

Breakfast was a €20 buffet (not incl in room rate) & the bread/croissants were definately not what you'd expect in France - very poor. Coffee was stewed being self service out of an urn.

The hotel's in a good location - but there are a lot of other hotels in the area.

This is a €170 hotel that I will not stay in again.

location trumps negatives

by TripAdvisor Member SocksandSox

This is primarily a hotel used by organized travel companies to house their groups of tourists (groups like Globus, Trafalgar, etc.). It is also a business class hotel as it is near some government buildings in the neighborhood. The best part about this hotel is its proximity to the Eiffel Tower -- about 3 blocks away!

The rest of the neighborhood has some good amentities to explore, nice restaurants, quaint grocery markets, banking/atms, about 3 blocks to the nearest Metro line.

The rooms are basic, nothing to note. We were part of a tour group. Our bags took a very long time to arrive to our room.

great location

by TripAdvisor Member bernie12

stayed at the hotel for my first trip to paris and have to say the location so near to the eiffel tower is tremendous. the room was a little small for a 4 star hotel but was immaculately clean and the air conditioning does make a difference on a warm evening. the staff on reception are very helpful and speak good english. we had a deal which included breakfast buffet style and ample, one evening ate at the restaurant but wasnt impressed as a few of the better choices were off. have to mention the batobus service on the seine hop on and off unlimited times for 13 euros for two days!

Overpriced, underspecced

by TripAdvisor Member aussidavidy

I am a consultant and travel every week staying in different hotels. In Paris I have stayed in much better hotels for half the price.

For the tourist, I would say if you want to enjoy the charm of Paris, that can be anywhere and the this is not central to anything except the eiffel tower (although everything is central in Paris). Charm in Paris is not in a large multistory concrete building

For the business traveller, paying that much for a hotel that charges extra for internet access and breakfast, has a lousy gym, a single iron for the entire hotel in an ironing room and very average rooms, it is simply expensive and poorly equiped.

Great hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Keppel

I booked to stay at this hotel thru a well known compamy, I was a mum travelling alone with my 5 yr old boy. The location was exellent-a 5min stroll from the Eiffel tower & the Seine (& Batobus stop) & the Bir Hakim Metro. The neighbourhood was full of nice shops & restaurants. The Paris Sewage Tour (Not everyones taste but highly recommended) is a 15-20min walk away at Pont d!Alma. THe hotel reception staff were helpful & spoke English well. Our room was on the 10th floor with exellent views. There were 3 efficient lifts.
The lobby area was large, pleasant & comfortable. THere was a bar area & restaurant where we had breakfast-OPen buffet style.
The buisness clientele, tour groups & families all seem to blend very well together to give a relaxed atmosphere. I never felt tense about my child behaving as children do-Unlike in many (or most) UK hotels where they profess to be child friendly but arent.
We also could take advantage of the hotels left luggage facility to make the most of our last day till our taxi pick up at 1pm.(check out is 12),
All in all we had a lovely, relaxing stay.

Experience with Mercure Paris Tour Eiffel Suffren?

by lgrabowski

I received what I believe to be an attractive price quote ($115 US), and am considering booking one week at the Mercure Paris Tour Eiffel Suffren, 20 Rue Jean Rey in Paris later this month (April, 2004).

Does anyone have any comments or experience with this particular property?

Thank you very much - it is my first trip to Paris.

I don't know this particular hotel and haven't looked up its location but from its title it should be near the tower.

Anyway, do check all the comments on tripadvisor.com. You'll be pleased to know that the hotel has been commented upon favorably by former guests.
