OK but some problems!

I stayed in this hotel when during my first visit to Paris. The hotel was booked by a friend of my friend, who was travelling also with me at this time. The reason why they chose this hotel was because it was cheap. The room was small but managable for a budget hotel. The location is a little outside of central Paris, but the metro system is really easy to use and the hotel is practically next to the metro. The area is not as nice as central Paris, but it is OK if you are just looking for somewhere cheap to stay.

Unique Quality: The hotel and the rooms were clean. There was a working lift too. The bedroom and the bathroom (if you can call it a bathroom!!) were small and basic; enough for sleeping only. The bathroom (with shower and toilet) was just a corner cubicle with sliding door, so small and narrow that it was big enough to move my body 360 degrees! It's like the cubicle in a train or a ship! The breakfast was also very basic - just some lukewarm coffee, cheap pastries, hard cereals, diluted milk, ham and cheese. I could have save the money and had a decent breakfast at the McDonalds in the shopping mall next door. Well, since the price for the rooms was so cheap, I cannot complain very much.

My Paris HQ

give this place a try. you can get there with 2 tickets on the regular metro bus from charles degaulle airport, i think bus 351 or 154, then, it is right next to the bagnolet transit station, buses and metro trains. good sleeps, good breakfasts, good location. i am a budget traveler, and this is my kinda place.

Unique Quality: nice and clean, and a good chain i use when i travel around france.

I stayed at the Mister Bed...

I stayed at the Mister Bed City @ Paris - Bagnolet(La Compagnie Hoteliere) which is near Boulevard Peripherique. There is a METRO station...Gallieni nearby. Its about 15 minutes ride from Paris city. It has 164 rooms and offers Shower and toilet in the room, Television Canal + Canal Satellite (French pay channels), Private telephone (connection 1 euro), Cafetaria, (automatic), Night Watchman, Buffet petite-dej: 5 euro).

Unique Quality: I like it for its self style breakfast and its nearness to a supermarket..where you really stock up your daily needs.

Avenue du General de Gaulle?

by murdessa

Salut,

My partner & I will be visiting Paris in November to see one of our favourite bands play (Legendary Pink Dots). The band will be playing at L'Echangeur, which is on Avenue du General de Gaulle, & we would love to stay somewhere near here.

We can't afford anything extravagant, so cheap (but not too nasty) suggestions are MUCHLY appreciated!

Merci beaucoup :D

Thanks so much for that! Very helpful. I have been looking at maps of Paris but they are fairly unhelpful -- is Bagnolet far from the centre of Paris? Is the public transport easy to use?

Salut encore,

According to the Accor Hotels site, "special touristic area Paris centre" is about 10-km far from the hotel (considering Ibis Bagnolet). The same site says the hotel can be reached by subway: "Métro 3 - ligne station Galieni. Direct Connection Charles De Gaulle par le bus 351.
