Central, but...
The hotel is in a central location, close to the Marais area and to Bastille/Place de Vosges, few hundred meters from St. Sebastien metro station; it's located in a quiet street so that there is no trouble for your sleep, but...the rooms are very small and we found very low light in the room where we stayed. I mean not the light coming from the window, but the lamps: they were low.
Furnitures are also old, but this not not a great problem, IMO.
Friendly staff, but this is not enough to consider satisfying the night we spent there.

We stayed at Hotel du marais,...
We stayed at Hotel du marais, smack bang in the middle of the 'very nice' marais area, next to a market called Les enfants rouges' which sold loads of lovely cheeses, fish, organic fruits and vegetables and other tasty goodies that the french are so good at. Not only that but we were minutes from two brilliant boulangeries, charcuteries, and fromageries.
Unique Quality: It is cheap at well 190 francs (about 29 euros)for BOTH of us ie for the room. we weren't even a couple so we are talking two single beds here. The place is described in the rough guide as the original pre war paris cheapie. And it is. really funky and real old style down to the turkish style toilet (or indian style...I was pretty used to it) which is shared. but hey for that price in central paris who cares! There was a sink in our room and a balcony and really kitsch wallpaper and a crooked mirror. Wow we could almost see henry miller there (no lice though thank god!!) Clean in fact. the patron is a real character, who loves women and he lets you eat your croissants or whatever from the boulangerie in the great old style bar downstairs, with his cafe creme he will make for you.
