There is some suggestions for a long week-end...
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation in Paris is quite cheap.
Try to buy cheaper 10 Metro tickets or a day pass (for 1 to 5 days) with 5 zones (so you can go everywhere from Paris to good places like Versailles, Fontainebleau or Chantilly) See Paris Visit Ticket
MUSEUMS
For Museum lovers, you must buy PARIS MUSEE card it is a Museum Pass for 1 , 2 or 3 days...
My recipe, if you can stay only some days in PARIS.
DAY 1: QUARTIER LATIN
Night and evening for fun and lots of restaurants
Quartier St Michel - métro St Michel
Rue de la Huchette (good jazz clubs)

taste the famous ice cream GLACE BERTHILLON
then walk in the small streets toward NOTRE DAME
then visit LES HALLES but not in the night it is not very safe if you are alone too late
DAY 2 ; MONTMARTRE
Apointment at POST CAFE 70 Bd de Rochechouart (Metro Anvers).
Le funiculare is very cheap : 1 metro ticket
Place du Tertre , you must visit here Restaurant PATACHOU call before (works), very good view on Paris by night)
le Lapin agile, French bistrot
lot of restaurants here (some are not good)...
then walk by feet in the small streets,
le SACRE COEUR
DAY 3: OTHER GOOD PLACES

APPOINTMENT: ARE YOU LOST ?
it you need a place for an appointment with your friends go to Fontaine St Michel at PLACE SAINT MICHEL , metro Saint Michel (see the picture here). There is a cafe just on the right, the name is LE FENELON (famous man) if you want to wait with a hot drink.
NOTE
if it's cold ourside, go to the bar LE FENELON just on your right, when you are in front of the fountain or go to LA BRIOCHE DOREE or PAUL (it's cheaper, for good croissant or breakfast).
TELEPHONE
Lot of telephone booths in the streets,
the cheapest one is to go in the INTERNATIONAL TELEPHONE small shops or to buy pre-paid cards (KERTEL is a good one) if you need to call abroad.
CHANGE, MONEY
the best places are near PLACE SAINT MICHEL or OPERA GARNIER - Why ? there are lot of tourists and they need change, so there is some competition.

I like the Ibis hotel at the airport (right next to the RER station). They have a great buffet breakfast in the morning, starting at 4 a.m.
The free shuttle bus is next door and runs every 7 minutes to all the terminals.
The rooms are small but clean. The rate is 89euros for a double room. Breakfast is 6 euros.

Hi, there is also a Courtyard there. Seen it from the highway and it looks fairly new.
Do not stay at the Novotel though. I stayed there a long time ago and it's just a plain high-rise, nothing special.
