Hotel in Paris

by aces101

My husband and I are going to a wedding in Paris at the end of march. Some family members are near the latin quarter and also St-Germain. Can you reccommend a memorable hotel in the 125.- 150. euro range. Thanks Alice

My family and I were just there this past weekend. We stayed at the Novotel Gare De Lyon. It is next to the Gare De Lyon train station and hence near all the main transportation lines. It was 125 Euro per night (internet deal thru their website). It is one of the few hotel in downtown Paris that has a pool. Good Luck.

For a really memorable stay in Paris I always recommend to stay at L'Hotel at 13 rue des Beaux Arts. It's a historical building and a place full of charm and character. All the rooms are decorated differently and the public areas in the lobby are superb....it may be more than what you want to pay (at this time of the year perhaps about 250 E)...but if you can afford it you should definetly stay here . Check their website at www.l-hotel.com

Otherwise I suggest that you check out this other question where I commented on several hotels in that area and around your price range. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to call.

See :
Grand Hotel des Balcons
6 rue Casimir Delavigne
6° arrondissement (St Germain des Pres)
331 46 34 78 50
Close to the Jardin du Luxembourg in a quiet street.
It must be around the targeted price.
Have a pleasant wedding

I have stayed at the Novotel Gare De Lyon, which was nice and very standard in Novotel hotels, clean, modern and fairly central...right next to the train station...but what I'd definitely suggest is the Hotel Villa Alessandra near the Arc de Triomphe, wonderful hotel fairly new...and in a great neighbourhood right around the corner from a real french marketplace and the heavenly smells from the local boulangerie's and patisserie's (bakeries and pastry shops) which you could stop in for breakfast on the way to the metro a 3 minute walk away. A lovely bright and clean hotel too and the staff were friendly enough. And if you look real good, you'll be able to get a reasonable price...we stayed for 130Euro a night. The website is www.villaalessandra.com...hope you enjoy your trip!

Accomodations at Novotel Paris Tour Eiffel Hotel

by amcennis

I will be traveling to Paris next week with my sisters.
We have made reservations through Price Line at the Novotel Paris Tour Effiel Hotel, 61 Quai De Greinelle.

3 of us will be rooming together but we only booked a room for double occupancy. The hotel has quoted an additional $75.00 for a supplemental bed.

I was wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel and
would appreciate any comments.

Novotels are part of the Accor group. Generally reliable and comfortable. Have you looked at prices through www.accor.fr? Always worth comparing...

This May I was in Paris with my friends and none of us speak French. We ask some French woman for a direction in English, and she just started waving her hands meaning "Don't speak English to me. Just go away". It was really rude. And the French in the hotel we stood were nothing better. They understand what you are saying but they are not responding. They either ignore you, or if it's convenient for them they'll just point at sth. No words uttered.
However, I guess not all French are alike, but... that was my experience.
Hope you'll have a great time :)

Service charges are included on all restaurant bills at a cost of between 10 and 15 percent. Extra tips are accepted of course if you have received above good service. s fair to add a little more if the meal and service has been exceptional. Taxi drivers expect tips of about 10 percent of the fare. Hairdressers will expect about 10% also. Porters, doormen and room service can be offered a small gratuity.
