Paris Public Transport Passes / Tickets
by QuisquoseQuique
Hi. I’m trying to get my head around the passes / tickets for the transport system in Paris. Below is a summery of passes / tickets I’m aware of. I would appreciate it if people could read the summaries and either respond to the questions in a summary, or correct anything else, like my assumptions etc. I’ve not gone into fares and detailed information because at this stage I just want to ensure that my basic understanding of these passes / tickets is correct.
Many thanks.
1) Navigo - Forfait Intégrale (Complete package)
My understanding is that this is a pass for residence that is valid for a year. It is valid on the metro, buses and trams. Is this also valid on Transilien trains?
2) Navigo - Forfait imagine R
My understanding is that this is a pass for students under 26 and is valid for a year. Is this correct? It is valid on the metro, buses and trams. Is this also valid on Transilien trains?
3) Ticket t+
This is basically a standard single ticket for zone 1 & 2. You can also buy a carnet de 10 tickets. It’s valid on the metro, buses and trams, but not on Transilien trains
4) Paris Visite
This is a pass sold mostly to tourists. You can purchase it for 1, 2, 3 or 5 days. It is valid for zone 1 -3 or zones 1 -6 and can be used on the metro, buses and trams. It can be used on Transilien trains depending on your zone restrictions.
5) Ticket Jeunes Week-end
This is a weekend pass for youths. I assume it is valid Saturday and Sunday and on the metro, buses and trams only.
6) Mobilis
This is a pass valid for 1 day only and can be used in zones 1 and 2, 1 to 3, 1 to 4, 1 to 5 or 1 to 6. It is valid on the metro, buses and trams. Can it be used on Transilien Trains?
7) Forfaits Navigo & Navigo Découverte
This is a weekly or monthly pass for residence [Navigo] or visitors/tourists/temporary residence [Navigo Découverte]. Weekly passes run from Monday to Sunday. This can be bought for zones 1 – 2, 1 – 3, 1 – 4, 1 – 5 and 1 – 6. It is valid on the metro, buses, trams and Transilien trains (depending on the zone restriction of your pass). You need the Navigo card itself to load the pass onto it.
8) Solidarité Transport
I assume this is a pass for government officials, police etc.

The t+ ticket is also valid on the RER (I assume this is what you mean by transilien trains) within the Peripherique. If you go outside Paris city into the suburbs, you must buy a separate, more expensive ticket.
The Navigo Decouverte is also valid on the RER.
I've put the various prices and passes on my Paris Page as Transportation Tips and given the uses of each of the passes available to tourists. You can look at those to see if it's any help. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/7ba16/18308/9/
Good luck and enjoy your visit.

No. This is a reduction ticket for people who are physically challenged (handicapped or otherwise) and are therefore restricted in their mobility.

By the way, the RATP website has a full English version for many passes that you may need as a visitor.

Many thanks for the replies and the clarifications/corrections so far. I really appreciate it.
Where I used the word Metro, I included the RER in my thinking, but it would have been better to have said Metro and RER.
Beausoleil: By Transilien I mean the Île-de-France suburban trains i.e. the ones that run to places like Provins, Fontainebleau etc (see http://www.transilien.com/web/webdav/site/transilien/shared/documents/plans/pdf/planreseauIDF.pdf)
