I went to Montmartre in 2001 after seeing the Amelie Poulain movie. I went to the Relais Montmartre and was very delighted! The service is great, the rooms are tidy and the hotel is very personal accentuated. It is located near theaters and movies, and of course, near the Sacré-Coeur.

Anyone that would prefer a hotel with character and quality, looking to stay around Montmartre should consider this one as a place to choose. The staff are discrete and very helpful when asked. Of course as anywhere in France, knowing to get around in French is a big plus as not all staff are fluent in English. On the last night we asked for an impossible task: for them to book a table in the very popular Ciel de Paris and they managed to do this straight away for us arranging everything. That was impressive when you normally need to book far ahead. The breakfast is a bit expensive as it is in all hotels in Paris so I would recommend to opt out and go to a local salon de the instead or just get a freshly baked pain au chocolat from the lovely bakery round the corner. The room we had was lovely and spacious and very quiet as it was a deluxe so I think spending a bit more always helps. But all the rooms seem to be very pleasantly decorated.
2 minutes from the Moulin Rouge and from the underground so great connections to visit the city. some good restaurants around the area.
