Saint Thomas d'Aquin Hotel is listed as a 2-star, but in my humble opinion it should get more than that. The rooms are of typical European size, meaning that they are small but comfortable. The rooms were clean and the staff was extremely helpful.
For example I had a reservation for three days, but a friend came to town the night before. Despite there not being any rooms available, the staff took more than 45 minutes of their own time to assist in getting my friend an affordable room at another hotel. The staff helped with directions, questions, storing luggage and everything we ever asked.
Unique Quality: The rooms are relatively small and come with a swiveling fan. They do not have A/C, but I still slept fine with the fan on. There is cable TV, and internet in all rooms too.
Breakfast is available for an additional charge
Directions: About 5 minutes walk from either "Rue de Bac" metro station or "Saint Germain des Prés". Just north of Blvd St. Germain
I have wanted to stay in this hotel since I read about it a year ago. Its not only very reasonable but the location is excllent. St. Germain is one of the most expensive districts and it's very difficult to find a relatively cheap hotel that is clean, modern, and has a helpful staff.
Unique Quality: Rooms are all modernized with contemporary decor yet they look warm and inviting. The streetside rooms are more favorable than those in the rear due to the light.
Rates are 125 euro for a double plus an additional 9 euro for breakfast.
Directions: The hotel is located in the 7th district but it's on the border of the 6th hence the St. Germain des Pres location.
