Good location if you need to be in La Defense area
Sofitel Paris La Defense is a good choice in case you need to stay in the La Defense area. For tourist purposes would recommend a hotel in the centre of Paris. Even though the centre can easily be reached from the Sofitel La Defense by metro, you kind of miss out on the Parisian life around the hotel.
The rooms are nice and clean. No complaints at all. For Paris, very modern, spacious and comfortable. From that point of view, recommended for sure.

Helpfulness
Quality- Modern Style Hotel in Business Center
Softel Paris La Defense Center Hotel is placed at La defence center, close to metro however far away from City center. It takes about 10-15 minutes to go to city center by metro. Hotel is comfortable however is difficult to reach by taxi or car.
What can I say abou this hotel but good things. The Hotel is only a 10 - 15 min train journy from Paris on the very comfortable Metro system. Getting to the hotel from the station is relatively simple after the first time you figure it out. Most of the steps can be avoided if you take a right instead of a left when leaving the hotel. The station is a ten minute walk at most but very simple to get to.
The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. Most have very excellent english and were beyond helpful. They went out of their way to anticipate our needs before we even did. They suggested good ways to spend of days in Paris and saved us a lot of time and effort reading guides to figure out basic things. You can even buy tickets to Eurodisney at the concierge desk. As for the bedroom, they are fabulous! The beds are out of this world. So unbelievably comfortable. You will never look at your old bed at home again the same way, after sleeping in the hotel beds. Best relaxing sleep ever after a long day touring the sites.
The rooms are very tastfully decorated and have everything that you could possibly need. The only thing that I can fault is the price of the breakfast at €25. We did not have it as we thought the menu offerings were very basic and overpriced. I would advise that you check out the local cafes where you can have a lovely breakfast for €10- 15.
Overall, the Sofitel is a real treat. Never mind some of these reviews here that nit pick the smallest things. I would encourage you to not give them a second thought and book this hotel. We got great value and a lovely hotel experience.
Nice hotel in business district

We stayed three nights in an Executive Room and basically there was nothing to complain about. Nice staff, room, ... Of course, it is in La Defense and not in the city centre, but you know that in advance, don't you? Anyway the Metro 1 or RER takes you reasonable fast into town.
Hotel Okay, Location Terrible

Went to dinner down near the Champs Elysees because there's little to nothing in the local La Defense area. Attempting to return was an impossibility. After 2 hours in a taxi going round and round La Defense and many calls to the hotel and with the taxi driver, I got out.
The hotel sent someone out into the main plaza to get me. I got home 4 hours after leaving the Champs Elysees. To put it into perspective, that's <15 minutes on the Metro when you can find a station or when it's running.
The hotel was accomodating in trying to get me back to the hotel.
It's not really their fault that they're located in one of the worst parts of town (worst because, although safe, it's boring).
Only for business traveller

This hotel is only for busines traveller. Period. Excellent bed, efficient staff, great location for La Defense area. Other than that, location is the worst part. No good place for dining out. There is a metro station nearby, but it will take about half an hour to get to the city. It is also a bit too far from either CDG or Orly airports. It will take more than one hour by taxi. You can take the RER, but forget it if you bring luggages. But again, for business travellers, who spend all day for business and need only a good bed, this hotel will be great choice.
wonderful hotel

The hotel recently changed its name to Pullman La Defense. The hotel is well situated and the transport links is just amazing. The tube (metro) is much better than London Underground (for those people who had the pleasure of enjoyong a tube journey in london!!). The hotel room was very nice and posh. The bed was nice but it took a while to get used to. The breakfast was expensive and dinner was not that great. I would love to go back.
Great Alternative Option

On a recent trip to Paris with my wife, we decided to save some money and stay outside the city center in La Defense. We coudn't have been more pleased with our experience. Yes, the hotel is located about a 20-30 minute metro ride from the main attractions so if you are planning on driving or not taking the metro then look somewhere else. Also, if you want to step out your door and wander down a crooked little street to find a cute corner cafe, look somewhere else. There are very few eating options in the area. However, if you want a very spacious room with a friendly staff and one of the most comfortable beds you'll ever experience in your life, all for a price (at least for us it was only about $150 U.S. through expedia) that is a fraction of what a similar room would cost in the city center, then this is the place for you. We actually made two separate reservations for the hotel and stayed in the Superior Room (a more boutique style) two nights and were upgraded to a Deluxe Room (a very modern style) simply because it took a little while to find our reservation for three nights. The rooms are clean and although the area is not in the touristy part of Paris, it is safe and has its own charm with lots of artistic pieces surrounding the office buildings and a nice distant view of both the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe as you head to the metro (only a very short walk away). So although this would not be the hotel for everyone, if you go there knowing what to expect then I believe you will be very pleased.
