Who can help me choose a hotel near Bastille and Marais District??

by Cohibaba

I plan a 4-day trip to Paris next week. Then i've seen some suggestions for wandering in this area from the blog of Grand Hotel Dore, not bad.-- http://grand-hotel-dore-charme-marais-bastille.com/category/nos-idees-de-balades/
Now, I'm considering between this hotel and Grand Hotel Francais, which are pretty close.
Which is better?
Thx!

why are you asking this since your homepage lists Paris as your home?

Excellent reviews on tripadvisor for Dore (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d603072-Reviews-Grand_Hotel_Dore-Paris_Ile_de_France.html), but it is about 2 miles from Isle St. Louis. But there are three metro stations that appear to be about 100 yards from the hotel. Also great reviews for the GHF. A little closer in. Personally I like the look of the GHF better, plus there is some notion of an entry area, plus a bar. I don't think you would go wrong with either one. You may want to check directly with the hotels to see if there is construction going on nearby or views impacted by work being done. Karl

Just could not figure out why he was planning a trip to Paris if he already lives there. Sometimes posters are trying to get PR for their own business with this type of post. I still think it is fishy.

The poster hasn't even been back since the original post - adds to the fishy smell.

Thank you everybody for your answers. (Katymof you seem very suspicious!!!???). I am new on this forum and I was asking that for a friend who will come in March. And finally he was hesitating betwwen Hotel Gabriel and Grand Hotel Dore and you help him to make his decision.

Suspicious only because your question said YOU were planning the trip and you live in Paris. Your post didn't say you were planning it for friends. People sometime "ask" questions that secretly are trying to get attention for a hotel they work for. Many VTers watch out for this type of secret advert. My apologies if this was not the case - it simply looked very suspicious to me and came across as a plug for the hotel.

Hotel Des Invalides

In 1670, the Sun King decided to build this "hotel" to host disabled soldiers. Today, it is the site of Napoleon's tomb and several small museums, including Musée de l'Armée – a collection of military history and war art.
The best way to approach the Invalides is by crossing over the Right Bank via Alexander-III bridge.-

Busy Paris

If you have a choice, don't drive in Paris. There are a lot of traffic jams. I noticed almost all cars have swellings and scratches. So if you love your car leave it at home and use public transport.

Greetings and courtesy are very important. We saw zillions of rude tourists and some rude French. Don't add to the problem... We are all on this planet together, so let's try to be nice every chance we get!

XVIth - PSG, PSG, PSG !!!

by Maillekeukeul

If you have to see only one soccer stadium in Paris, it must be... the only one that's worth the view !!! The "Parc des Princes" (princes stadium) is situated in the XVIth district, close to the suburban city of Boulogne... It's the stadium of the most famous local team (the only one that plays in first league), the Paris Saint Germain ... Sometimes the national team also kicks off in this stadium...
