Le Moulin Rouge
Our hotel (Hotel Utrillo) was only 2 streets away from the Moulin Rouge, so it was on our must see lists! Unfortunately, with a 5 year old, we were denied entry, but it was fun to take photos in the foyer!
We stayed at the Hotel Utrillo for a total of 9 nights. Although it was a little squashed with three of us in the room, it was very clean and cosy.
Breakfast is served daily at a cost of approx 5 Euro pp - a great selection of pastries, cereals, yogurts, breads and eggs.
The staff were just wonderful - all of them went out of their way to help us in whatever way possible - calling cabs, suggesting driving routes. They even woke up at 3:00am on the morning of our departure, to say farewell (we were driving from Paris to Hergiswil in Switzerland - hence the early departure).
It is centrally located in Montmartre - around the corner is a laundromat, bakeries, florists, etc, and it's only a couple of minutes to the Sacre Couer and the Montmartre Cemetary.
The Moulin Rouge is about 1 min away on foot.
Very central and convenient for discovering Montmartre, and you would be hard pressed to find a more friendly reception!

This photo was taken early in the morning on our way to the Sacre Couer, which was a short walk from our Hotel Utrillo (see Accommodation Tips). There was fog everywhere, and honestly not a soul in sight. Standing at the top of the stairs, it felt like we were the only ones in the city at that moment in time.
Filled with fabulous cafes, bakeries, deli's, etc, Montmartre by night is very special indeed. Forget the sleezy nightspots on the main drag - this photo was taken in Rue Lepic (around the corner from our Hotel Utrillo) - such a lovely cosmopolitan atmosphere about the place. Make no plans - and just walk and enjoy!
