Nr The Champs Elysee

I didn't choose this hotel. It was the hotel KB was staying in with his work.
However, it was very pleasant and close to The Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe and such places, so quite well situated. However, there is a distinct lack of 'local' cafes and bars in the immediate surrounds of the hotel and some taxi drivers stared blankly when asked and had to get maps out to find the place.

To the hotel from Gare de Nord costs around 15 euros up, depending on the traffic. Allow plenty of time for any trips to the hotel, as it is near the traffic madness of central Paris and can take some time sitting in queues to get there.

The room was delightful, spotlessly clean and the bathroom very nice indeed, with some quality freebies. The reception area is also very pleasant, although my friend The French Painter commented on how 'English' it looked. However, the hotel lacks a bar or restaurant (amazingly for a 4*) and the staff didn't seem to know any restaurants to recommend apart from the typical tourist ones on the Champs Elysee, so do your restaurant homework if you are a foodie! Room service did bring me a very nice sandwich though, I think brought over from their sister hotel or something.

It has a very pleasant, relaxed vibe, but probably more suited for business than a holiday and very expensive considering the lack of bar/restaurant.

So all in all, Great for a quiet base in warm and comfortable surroundings, but lacking in facilities.

Unique Quality: Lovely rooms and bathrooms.

Elegant accomodation at Hotel Majestic

The Hotel Majestic is located just west of the Arc du Triomphe, an excellent location in Paris. It is convenient to all of the shops and cafes on the Champs Elysees.

I stayed here the first time I went to Paris. It's a 4 star accomodation (I was on business, lucky me!). The hotel is small, but quite elegant and located along a quiet street with little traffic. The people at the front desk are very kind and accomodating and are happy to speak with you in English. The rooms are large-- reserve a junior suite and you'll get a huge bathroom with full bathtub, walk-in closet and a large bedroom complete with a sitting area and desk. The decor is charming.

Every morning, the hotel sends fresh croissants (the chocolate croissants are amazing!) and coffee to guest rooms. There is also a restaurant downstairs that serves tasty meals. Hotel Majestic is a great place to stay in Paris. I highly recommend it!
