An overnight stay in versailles
"Staying in the old stables!"
During a work visit to our offices in Marly-le-Roi, a group of colleagues and I stayed in the Pullman Versailles Hotel for one night. I was located fairly close to the Versailles that we know from French history. Sadly we had no time to actually visit the actual Palace.
The hotel was in fact a former stable - and situated around the complex there is a significant amount of sculpture and monumental stonework which reflects the imperial past. Close to hotel, there are crest and symbols emblazoned by LN - that I take it to be Louis Napoleon.
"It was a rather rainy night"
A small group of us, some 17, went for dinner at the Au Chien qui Fume. It was a rather jolly night, but started to rain quite heavily. However, I do have to say that I quite enjoy somewhat dark, wet and wintery evenings. It makes the evening seem some what more of an experience.
"Versailles"
It seems that many people have heard of Versailles, although I am sure many people think it is in Paris. However it is not - we drove for well over an hour from the airport to reach our Versailles hotel, and the addresses are not those of Paris destinations.
Sadly we did not have any time to visit the Palace itself, but I did manage to make a very short visit to the entrance nearest our hotel and take some photographs. The image is one of the many water features that are around the property - this is one of the first that you see.
