Hidden corners
The beauty of this place are those small corners, a little out of the main stream of tourists, that offer some relax and nice views. Spending an hour walking around, out of the shops, has a worth reward!

Carcassonne (France)
Hello everyone. I am traveling in the beginning of June to Carcassone from exact location : 17 Quai du Wault, 59000 Lille, France (Formerly Golden Tulip Alliance Couvent des Minimes)The Couvent Des Minimes hotel. Can anyone help me or suggest how to get to Carcassonne from there? I am looking for a bus or maybe train? Can anyone help? Please and thank you!
You can take the train from Lille to Carcassonne, but it is a long journey.

Travel time is 7+ hours, with at least 3 changes.
It is 900+km from Lille to Carcassonne? Bus (if available) or car will take even longer than train.
Wow. Thats long. Do you know if there is any train? We might stay at the one in Mane, Provence instead.
Yes, there is a train (although you will have to change more than once).
In my first post I gave you the links to find the train times and details in English.
Being close to Lille Europe TGV station in Lille, you have the chance to take the fast TGV trains to the south. For example you take the TGV to Narbonne (no need to go into Paris).
Then transfer to a train for the 30 minutes journey to Carcasonne. You can accomplish this journey in 7 hours.
TGVs (Train à Grande Vitesse) are the pride of the French railways (SNCF).
I know you have asked for bus/train info, but are you aware that European low cost air travel is usually cheaper than bus or train ?
Ryanair fly from Charleroi to Carcassonne.
Charleroi is about 100km away. May be worth checking bus/train to Charleroi, then taking the plane ?

As a regular user of European budget airlines I can assure the OP that they are almost never cheaper than bus, and usually not cheaper than trains. It is, of course, entirely possible to get very cheap fares if one books far in advance..but to that one must add taxes and charges, fares to and from the airport and extra charges for hold baggage and so on.
So it would be incorrect to state that budget airlines are always cheaper than bus or train. In some cases they will be (although I doubt even Ryanairwill be cheaper than bus, unless you happen upon one of its seat sales) but as a general rule (and excluding overnight sleeper/couchettes trains, and the under-Channel eurostar) train still tends to be the cheaper option (and especially so if you use the slightly slower regional trains).
So it is a matter of doing your research carefully and, if you want to fly, ensuring that you book your ticket a long way in advance. There are no cheap last-minute fares with any European budget airline.

FESTIVAL OFF
On Saturday, September 23 after departing Carcassonnne, we stopped and visited in Narbonne, which is east of Carcassonne. We visited the magnificent CATHEDRALE ST. JUST. The accompanying photo depicts just one of the many beautiful frescoes inside the Cathedral.
We were directed to this place by people at the hotel. "The Old Oven" is a name that bespeaks the local dish of cassoulet. At home we have always enjoyed slow-cooked pork and white beans, but this takes the dish to another level. It is the staple of the Languedoc and the Carcassonne variety uses pork rind and mutton (sometimes), goose (which we had) or partidge (when available), plus spices and herbs. Our dish came hot from the special oven in a glazed clay casserole. Further along in our trip we remembered their version as the best. With their pate de campagne lead-up and cheeses afterward and local wine along the way, we were ready to walk it off around the dimly lit and quiet Cite.
