We always prefer to be self catering for stays of more than a couple of nights and have stayed in this same renovated fisherman's cottage in the Faubourg area on both our visits to Collioure.
Many such buildings have been renovated and refurbished and are now let as holiday rentals.
Although small this one provides very comfortable accommodation - an attractive sitting room with TV, Hifi, bookshelves etc, a fully fitted kitchen, modern bathroom, double bed room, and twin-bunk bed room. It was perfect for a couple.
At the back there is a small garden reached by a spiral iron staircase with a clothes line and garden furniture.
It is conveniently located within easy walking distance of all of the town.
Update Sept 2011. A friend wanted to book this cottage last year but we found the website was no longer available. We have now found it again on these sites -
WiFi is now available here.
Access Note. Since a recent accident left me with impaired mobility I am much more conscious of possible problems so mention that I found access to the garden via the spiral iron staircase difficult when able bodied. I also note that the new owners have an Australian phone number so beware time zones if phoning from overseas. We would love to go back but the garden would be inaccessible to me now.
If interested maybe worth asking if any changes have been made to the staircase.
The front step were OK but could pose a problem for some people.
Le Bon Port
The photograph shows the sea route that leads from the hotel to the chateau by way of the beach.
Always nice if someone has a house where you're going, as was the case for us here. No bothersome landlady and we could just sleep all day if we wanted (we didnt!) and alway great if you get lucky!
