I am looking to spend a few weeks in the summer at the campsite Carabasse and the flights from my local airport will go to Montpellier airport, I would like to know how much a taxi would be from the airport to the campsite????
I would rather not hire a car but wonder if it might work out cheaper...can anyone help??

If so that's 40 miles or so from Montpellier so consider what would cost in Uk and do the sums. You won't be far off.
An alternative would be to take a train to Agde and then a bus.

There is a tiny station at Vias but it has only three trains a day so you would be very lucky if one of those was to hand.

It would cost you, for sure - you should calculate about two euros a kilometer, last time I asked a year or two ago (Montpellier-Gignac, 30 kilometers, 60 euros or so), and that is during the day - It would be more at night. I have never used the Montpellier airport, too expensive, but surely there are shuttles to the train station from the airport. The bus station is just next door. Good luck!

If you're an American who speaks very little French, at least make an attempt to speak the native language. In my experience, as long as you make an effort, those people that can speak English will know you're struggling and help you out if they can. Always say Merci!!
This grill restaurant is in Antigone, just opposite to the Palais de la Région.
The area is nice and not dangerous, and you can have a walk along the river Lez after your meal!
Grilled meat is gorgeous and served with a large choice of sauces and vegetables. Deserts are delicious as well.
Kids menus are also available.

Go and see the aquaduct of Montpellier. Romans invented this watertransportsystem. It brought water in all houses. The Romans also invented the sewersystems, viaducts (they are a kind of bridges with roads on it, they used to look like aquaducts a bit)and heatingsystems (tiles with hot water running under it).
Le Midi de la France est une région que j'adore. Entourée de vignoble Montpellier est une ville ravissante avec ses rues piétonnières, ses édifices de pierres et tout ses cafés. Ils ont su allier moderne et ancien avec goût.
La place de l'Opéra, un endroit pour flanner, prendre un café, magasiner ou tout simplement lire un journal et regarder les gens passer. Trouvez le Mac Donald???
À Montpellier, si vous vous baladé un peu vous pourez voir l'aqueduc romain. Ils sont fous ses romains....
