Nimes to Avignon tain tickets sold out 7th April?
by bucko5
Will there be tickets available for trains between Nimes and Avignon on the evening of 7th April? We're trying to get a train after 1830hrs, the RailEurope website aren't any trains showing after 1804hrs.

Trains from Nimes to Avignon are very regular. At the time you are looking at, your best choices would be one that leaves Nimes at 18.46 or one that leaves Nimes at 20.32. Both take about 30 minutes to get to Avignon Centre. You do not need to book tickets, you will be able to buy them right up to the time that you board the train. If there are no seats left when you come to buy your ticket (highly unlikely) then you may have to stand for the trip. I can't see this happening however. These trains are Regional Express, 2nd class only and don't take seat reservations. You just buy your ticket and hop on the train, you will not be left standing on the platform, you will always be able to get on whichever train you choose. Don't go near Rail Europe, especially for a short trip such as this, you will pay through the teeth as Rail Europe is an agency that takes commission out of every sale.

I just wanted to confirm that none of the trains at this time are Téoz which require advance purchase tickets in spite of the fact that the seats are not reserved. Indeed, just as Maryimelda points out, just purchase a ticket before departure and you'll have no problem. If you do not arrive early and there are crowds you may not get a seat but the en route time is only 30 minutes.

Travel Tips for Nîmes
THE AMPHITHEATRE
by LoriPori
The AMPHITHEATRE in Nimes is one of the best preserved in the whole of the Roman world and shows the installations that architects at the end of the 1st century AD designed for this type of structure, which was intended for the presentation of animal or gladiator combats.
There was seating room for over 23,000 spectators on the 34 terraces of the cavea. Different social ranks sat in different areas. The public could reach their seats through 5 galleries at different levels and by way of numerous staircases.

One of the best roman temples of the world arrived intact in modern times...
Now you can find it in the city center, in a modern and very pleasant square of Nimes.
The temple was built MArco Vipsanio Agrippa, son-in-law of the first Emperor of Rome, Augustus, at the end of the 1st century B.C. ... So the tample has MORE tha 2,000 years right now.
By the Way, Agrippa's name is the very same you can read in the front facede of the PAntheon in Rome
The temple was dedicadet to Gaio Cesare and Lucio cesare, sons of Agrippa ang Iulia (daughet of Octvianus Augustus)
Visit the Park/Gardens

The Jardins de la Fontaine are gorgeous and free! They hold the Roman ruins of the Temple de Diane (free) and a tower, Tour Magne (approx 2-3 euros), from which you can get a view of Nimes and surroundings. Alternatively, you can just hang out all day and people-watch, walk the trails, sit by the pools, check out the cafe and crepe stands, read a book in the grass, have a picnic, etc. This was my favourite place in Nimes, and I actually returned a second day to relax and enjoy the soothing atmosphere while feasting on yet another crepe :)

a Roman temple... well maybe I could have avoided this description, you could see it by yourself but I can add something...
It goes back to the 4-5 BC and sat in the court of law, in the administrative and economic centre of the town.
Nimes - Feria de Primavera '03 & '04
by shaunhoffman
"Feria de Primavera"
Feria de Primavera in Nimes occurs the last week in May or the first week in June usual. It is a wild celebration with bullfights, all night partying and music in the streets, and yes, a running of the bulls. Very Spanish-like complete with Sangria and Paella. Think of it as a tamer version of Pamplona without the Aussies.
I even managed to have a little accident while running with the bulls. I was run over by a bull and sent flying to the concrete cutting my head open and requiring 9 stitches. Ouch!
