13th Centrury Castle, Perpignan
I am staying in argeles sur mer at the end of june. I want to see the dublin v westmeath gaa match on Sun 29th. Are there any pubs in the area that might show it.
I saw an 'Irish Bar' when I was in Argeles last week - it's quite near the central beach but I cannot remember the name of the road it was in. Might be worth asking if someone knows.
I have stayed several times in both Argeles and Perpignan. I cannot remember ever having seen a bar advertising Sky or Setanta sports, despite diligent research.
Le Castillet. I think is the best place to start your
visit to Perpignan. This big tower is the rest of the ancient walls around the city. Inside you have a tourist information office and a wonderful museum about catalan tips. Go upstairs and have a look to the
incredible view you have from all around: the Canigo,
the Mediterranean sea.....really wonderful!!!
The oldest item in the Vieux St. John's is from the Visigothic period, namely an ancient font carved in marble. There is some encircling carved decoration and a small head and some inscription. On the outer aspect of the old church are two stone relief carvings embedded into the wall and there is also a statue of the Virgin
Perpignan is the capital of the province ROUSSILLON. Great SALVADOR DALI called it "the capital of the whole world". Some time Perpignan used to be the second great city of CATALUNIA. In XIII-XIV centuries it was the capital of the KINGDOM MALLORCA, which was attached to Catalunia. So, it played a very important role in the history of Catalunia and France. Now we can't help admiring its architecture; the city is really worth visiting.
