Travel Tips for Metz

A walk near Moselle River must...

by voyageur2

A walk near Moselle River must be one of loveliest things in that city. Parks, old buildings and nice scenery... Cathedral in the city center was magnificent. Inspect its reliefs outside and see perfect descriptions. Stained glasses, descriptions, atmosphere inside reflect Christian Values perfectly.

Restauration

by Aurorae

Restauration in the Cathedral is an ongoing process, and it is funny how it is half-done. This wall represents an example of that. Half of it is cleaned and refurbished, while the other half remained dirty and polluted, waiting for its turn. it makes quite a difference and it's more than evident!

Beautiful tourism office!

by Toshioohsako

This is one of the most beautiful tourism office I have ever seen. Please do visit. They have interesting "mobile chairs". Its located just next to the famous Cathedral St. Etienne.

Saint Nicolas

by Aurorae

More morbid tales.
Another saint became famous for saving three little kids who were captured by the evil butcher who sliced them up into juicy morsels and then left them to cure in his brine tub. Seven years later, while traveling in Lorraine, St. Nicolas asked the butcher for something to eat saying he'd love a piece of meat that had been in the brine tub for the last seven years. Realising his crime had been discovered, the butcher fled and St. Nicolas brought the children back to life. As if.
I wonder who came up with these nasty stories, and if they have any fairy tale legends, like beautiful princess and her prince riding off in the sunset on a white horse (equally impossible, though!)

Monument to the Fallen

by Aurorae

This is a monument to the victims of the war. it's situated at the entrance to a park, on your way from the railway station to the downtown, near the arch. There is nothing particularly interesting about this monument, but it's still worth seeing since you're already passing by. And of course, to pay the tribute to the fallen in sensless killings.
