Visit Thionville instead

Thionville has something to it that I liked more than Metz. Maybe it is the older look of the place, it is quieter for sure, it may be the slight odour of coing (funny shape pear) that floats around making you hungry, maybe all of the above...
Here is a picture of la tour des Puces (or something), built in the XIII century.
Views on the island

As I've already said there are a lot of wonderful views you are able to find on the island. For example, there is fantastic view in the yard in the center of the island where you may have dinner as well. On the picture you see river between Prefecture Bridge and Roches Bridge if to see from the island.
Mirabelle - the fruit of the East

Mirabelle is this big yellow fruit, looking like a plum.
Some years, you can have many of them, it goes out usually the end of august.
with it, you can make delicious pie, but also strong alcohol.
August is also a time for Mirabelle fest, and at the end of the month, Metz people elect the queen of "Mirabelle", which will represent the city all over the year...

the small island "Ile du Saulcy" is the center of student places of the city.
it's a nice borrough, you have all around water & trees, and you are very near from the shopping center.
Every year many foreign students study there, flats are available also in the isle....
Tour de l'Ancienne Eglise de Garnison

Near of Place du Saulcy, there is a beautiful garden and it's laid on the Moselle bank. In the garden there is Tour de l'Ancienne Eglise de Garnison. I haven't any idea about it and I just can say it looks very old and needs reconstruction.
