Travel Tips for Nancy
Triumphal Arch
by bugulma
Triumphal Arch was built to honour of Louis XV at the same time as Stanislas Square (1755). It was a border between Old Town and New Town. The arch reminds Roman Emperors arches that they built to glorify themselves. A gilded medallion of Louis XV in profile dominates the entire structure.
There Are Several Art Nouveau Banks
by hquittner
Most of the Art Nouveau Architecture in Nancy is buildings either originally built as as banks or later converted to that use. Be sure to notice the fanciful iron work and stone decoration. Most of the buildings are concentrated in a small area.

by eden_teuling
This too was just begging to be photographed and so I did.
Isn't this a romantic place for a stroll after dinner??
I just had to turn to the right here to reach my hotel, THE MERCURE HOTEL.......the one nearest to the Place Stanislas, there also is a MERCURE hotel near the RAILWAY STATION.......
Saint-Epvre Basilica
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
One of the most impressive church in Nancy.
It was built in the XIX century by Prosper Morey. Saint-Epvre’s Basilica is decorated with stained glass and wood panelling in part made in Bavaria.
It was richly endowed by Napoleon III, Emperor Franz-Joseph, Ludwig II of Bavaria and Pope Pius... who donated the beautiful stone paving in the choir that came from the Appian Way.
LE MUSéE DES BEAUX ARTS NANCY.....
by eden_teuling
Created in 1793 and housed in one of the 18th Century pavillions on Place Stanislas the Museum's walls are a witness to the architecture and urban development of Nancy.
With the restoration of the vestiges of the 15th - 17th Century fortificationsin the basement, the museum has become a link between the old and the new towns, between the former Duchy of LORRAINE and modern NANCY.
Further development became necessary due to the constantly increasing size of collections!
This let to the construction of an important extension in 1999, with a complete re-organisation of the MUSEUM in order to make it as attractive as possible for young and adult visitors.
There is a nice gift shop with a lovely collection of books on art and all kinds of things that are sweet gifts!
I have already told you about the MUSEUM'S collection and....that you shouldn't forget to go sous-sol to the wonderful GLASS COLLECTION.
