Travel Tips for Nancy

Saint-Epvre Basilica

by bugulma

Unfortunately St.Epvre was reconstructed in its facade and you see on the picture back side of the basilica. The first church was built in XII century here but present-day basilica was finished in XIX century, the general sponsors were Napoleon III and Francis Joseph I, Emperor of Austria.

PLACE STANISLAS AT NIGHT.....

by eden_teuling

This really is a must!

Walk to this wonderful place after dinner and you will be surprised: the TOWN HALL is bathing in pinkish light which will make you grab for your camera immediately.

The FOUNTAIN OF NEPTUNES and other golden gatework will invite you to take photographs!

Follow my example.......

Porte de la Craffe

by tini58de

The Craffe Gate is one of the oldest gates (if not the oldest one) in Nancy. It was built in the 14th century as part of the city walls of Nancy. The towers were added in the 15th century and were used as prisons.

On the back side of the Porte de la Craffe is another gate, so if you walk through those two gates you have a feeling like walking through a tunnel. Don't miss it!

Government Palace

by solopes

The old residence of the governors of Lorraine, is a palace of the 18th century, that seems to close the square of La Carriere, when you enter from Stanislas square.

Closed to visit (?), when you approach, you may notice that it makes part of an independent complex, facing a large round area delimited by some arches, named De Gaulle square.
