Travel Tips for Nancy
Fountain on Stanislas Square
by bugulma
It was quite cold when I visited the city and this fountain didn't work, of course. Besides the city prepared to 250-anniversary of Stanislas Square and the most part of the square was under reconstruction and closed. Nevertheless, as you may see, winter is nice season for fountain too.
bonjour, bonsoir, merci, s'il...
by vividvivian
bonjour, bonsoir, merci, s'il vous plaitand au revoir would be used very often esp. when you go shopping!!
when i go shopping with host family, like everyone, they will really look at the ingredients, not like people in hong kong who usually look at the brand.
try to watch soccer match, and you will feel how people there love this activity!
Place de la Carrière
by tini58de
Place de la Carrière is the third square that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nancy. I was tempted to put it under "tourist traps" because when we visited here in May 2007 it was more or less a gigantic parking lot! From pictures I could see that there is actually a square there, but in May 2007 there were tents put up for some festival and all around were parking spaces! It had nothing appealing or special in my opinion - I hope when you visit, you will find the beauty of this square somewhere behind parked cars!
Stroll along old city center...
by Lalique
Stroll along old city center towards the ancient gates as seen on the pic. opening my Nancy page
These gates are a former medieval prison. On the street leading to the gates there is a nice market where you can buy fresh chees and ham to have a quick snack.
Four Evangelists
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
The stylized sculptures of four evangelists are installed near Saint-Epvre Basilica.
Among the generous donors of the Basilica were Napoleon III of France and the Emperor Francis Joseph I of Austria.
Much of the interior decoration was due to artists from numerous European countries.
