History IV
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
A daughter of Stanislav was married with Lui XV. By this time duke Lotharingian married the Austrian empress and left for ever to Vienna. The vacant throne was handed over to the king-exile. But the true king is the king even in exile.
Stanislav thought up such architectural program for Nancy, such palaces and parks, that Paris just right needed only to bite elbows. But it was difficult not listen to the father-in-law - Lui XV.
Protestant Church
by solopes
In Maginot Square, surrounded by some good examples of Nancy's art nouveau, there's an interesting temple, identified as "protestant". I don't know its story, but it's funny to notice in its facade the niches created to hold images of the saints, left... empty, as a result of the protestant concepts (I think!). No doubt, we are facing an "adoption" of a catholic temple (I think, again!).
Art Nouveau
by solopes
Nancy is a case study, and a showcase of the best in Art Nouveau. All over the city is possible to see several examples, respected by the volumes of the adjacent buildings, as a signal of modern respect for the city's history and art.

Examine the Entry to the Ducal Palace
by hquittner
The Ducal Palace was built in the last part of the 13C but was rebuilt in the early 16C with a prominent entrance by Duke Antoine with a large main hall started by Rene II in 1495. The facade is on the Grande Rue. Here there is a facade with a fine equestrian statue of Antoine called the Porterie from 1512, and it is surrounded by rather strange sculptures that emphasize his importance. It is topped by a fine gable and lateral small balustrades all done by M. Gauvain. There is a fine inner courtyard and gallery.
