A new decor for this local institution: beige tones (wood panelling, Louis XV-style tablecloths and chairs), attractive parquet flooring and carved mouldings. Up-to-date cuisine.

Great local worldl-renown art tradition. A group of artists called "L'Ecole de Nancy" (end of 19 and 20 century) gathered in Nancy. The group of nouveau type art was founded by famous Emile Gall.
Musee den L'Ecole de Nancy is a beautiful museum with a cozy garden. The museum contains Gallee and others' main work.
Address: Rue du Sergent, Nancy
Once, twice, you pass in front of this cafe, repeating the same thought: "nice building".
Then, you read something telling you that it is one of the most distinguishable samples of the school of Nancy.
The third time, you look again, and update the thought: "Very nice building".
ART NOUVEAU is an artistic movement which was born in NANCY at the end of the 19th Century and which influenced the whole of Europe for a number of years.
The creations of the artists involved in the movement explored nature making its forms an integral part of the creative processes.
ART thus combines with INDUSTRY and the minor arts.
The Fa?ades of the houses, the furniture, the stained glass windows and vases and lights are decorated with e.g. roses, clematis, butterflies and dragonflies.....
NATURE reveals its splendour , liveliness and colourfulness in all parts of daily life!
Walking and enjoying this circuit will help you to discover the spirit of this LOVELY MOVEMENT, IMPORTANT MOVEMENT......
All over EUROPE you can find buildings, windows and furniture in this lovely, lively style, which is one of my FAVOURITE ones.....
At the BUREAU DU TOURISME you can get this city plan with the addresses so that it is easy for you to walk and enjoy.......it is like a guided tour.........
COMFY FOOTWEAR: there are 67 ART NOUVEAU sites and monuments ........
At some point in every great city's history a unique event has the effect of radically regenerating the ruban landscape through a massive outpour of creativity & enterprise.
This was the case in the 1890s when the ART NOUVEAU MOVEMENT first emerged in Nancy.
While much of the town rested on the laurels of Nancy's past, a vanguard of industrialists tradesmen and intellectuals, several from neighbouring areas, helped engeneer an economic transformation.
New factories, shops and new districts were built, and artists from many different horizons and fields, played a major part in this revolution.
Their search for new Art Forms culminated in a unique and original style: starting from zero, their creations explored nature making its forms in integral part of the creative processes.
Art thus forms an alliance with industry and the minor arts (glass, ceramics, iron-work, stained glass and cabinet-making) came to play a prominent part in the new style.
With their curvilinear architecture, fa?ades decorated with roses & clematis were a harmonious blend of stone, wood, brick, wrought-iron, glass and ceramic.
Pillars looked like the stalks of plants, iron work and balconies were bedecked with leaves and dragonflies and butterflies alighted on lamps and vases.
Nature was celebrated in all its forms.
The worship of beauty was to become a central tenet of the movement through artists such as Gall?, Daum, Gr?ber, Vallin, Majorelle and Prouv?.
The magnificent Mus?e de l'?cole de Nancy pays homage to their work and recreates the atmosphere of the era, a period of intense creativity that reaffirmed Nancy's place in the history of Art.
This BEAUTY is overwhelming and I can recommend a visit from the bottom of my heart!
