France - Cahors
"Cahors"
Cahors is at the heart of rural France. It is also on the "Way" of the Trail St Jarques or what becomes the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain. While I later on walked the Way of St James, in Spain, I arrived into this Frence market town by rail. The rewards would have been far more substancial if walked it, the distance from either Le Puy or even St Jean Pied de Port to Cahors is great. Cahors is best known for its stunning Medieval three towered stone bridge - The Pont Valentre. Importantly its best to be in Cahors on market day where the town square is filled with the delights of fine French produce.
