We used to be big fans of the Campanile Chain.
They never varied fom one end of the country to the other. It was as though someone had found a way to reproduce the total formula from the same pattern. The rooms were small, basic but perfectly adequate for a low cost overnight stop.
As we got older we looked for a little more comfort and had not been to a Campanile for several years until this one in Foix in April 2008.
The rooms look just the same - but we were staying next door at Hotel du Lac and what we had always liked best about the Campanile were the Buffet meals served in the restaurant.
So after a disappointing and overpriced meal on our first night at the Lac we decided to try the Campanile buffet for the sake of economy and for old times sake.
Well - not all things stay the same for ever!
We had a poorly presented meal probably provided by a mass caterer and the bill came to only a little less than we had paid the night before at the Lac!
This particular branch of Campanile is run as an independent franchise so I would not rule out the possibility of staying or eating in a different Campanile at another location......
