If the hotels are about 300 to 500 meters from the santuray, would it be too far away from the daily activities such as Mass and the Baths ?
Can someone recommend a clean and reasonably priced hotel where I can get two twin beds in a room ? thanks.
It depends on whether or not you have difficulty walking. If you can walk 300 to 500 meters (or yards; the length of 3 to 5 football fields in the US), then you will have no trouble attending daily activities. If you can't walk that far, there are hotels directly across from the sanctuary.
We stayed in a Campanile at the edge of town and you probably wouldn't want to walk that far. You can check the Lourdes web site at http://www.lourdes-france.com/ and click on the British flag at the top right to get it in English. If you scroll down, there is a link to Accomodations. That would probably be most helpful. I noticed many had a web site you could check about the twin beds. They also list accommodation in private homes.
My favorite site is the Logis de France. It is a group of small family-owned hotels throughout France and you can check their web site at http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/ where you can do a search by area, map or town. Just type Lourdes into the search window. They will have photos and a description and usually a web site directly to the hotel. The Logis come in all price ranges so choose what suits your budget. They are clean and usually have a good restaurant attached. You can reserve through the Logis de France web site or contact the hotel directly. We always use the Logis site, but contact the hotel just to make sure they got the reservation. We have never had a problem with them.

Along with a group of 3 elderly couples whom we accompanied to Lourdes for a private small pilgrimage during the highest peak season we did not have difficulties finding a good, clean walking distance to the Santuary. Please check our homepage and click on Lourdes. Lourdes is only 6 hours away from us driving (or from Barcelona) and it´s always a trip my husband and I enjoy going to, it´s has given us more peace of mine and felt closer to Our Heavenly Father. Thank you very much for your information. I checked your Lourdes pictures and descriptions and they are very helpful. We'll spend three days there in late October. Any more tips you want to give us regarding our pilgrimage visit ?
How about restaurants and eating places ? Are there any good ones to go which are also reasonably priced?
The Pic du Jer sits atop the Pyrenees overlooking Lourdes, Tarbes and Pau. Obviously the views of all these places are spectacular. to get there you can choose to ride the funicular which is about a century old. The ride is beautiful and takes about six minutes to travel up the one km distance to the top. The funicular operates all year round but with longer hours in the summer months. There is a cafe at the top.
