Lourdes is an unasumming village in the Department of Hautes Pyrenées apart from one factor, the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin to a poor, fourteen-year-old girl, Bernadette Soubiroux. Although the apparitions occured in 1858 ,to town remains a centre of pilgramage in The catholic church and a place of hope.
Sometimes its easy to look at something like this with a twinge of skeptisism. However, there is something truly transcendant about this small town the the showdows of the pyranees.
Even if your not a person of faith its often diffcult to come away from here untouched, it was been the site of miracles and remains a place where people can at least hold on to a belief in the devine.
Thousands come each year to visit the place where the virgin Mary was beleived to have appeared. People who are dying, both pysically and spiritually come to see if they can find what they are looking for.Some come away healed ,while others do not, but Lourdes always remains a place of peace and hope.
