Desperately need hotel reservation for 4 nights (15-19 May, 2006) in Toulouse

by Libelo

I'm desperately trying to find a vacant hotel for 4 nights in Toulouse
(15-19 May, 2006 1 room for 1 person).
I went over ALL travel websites, and it seems that for some reason ALL hotels in Toulouse are FULLY BOOKED during these dates.
Any idea why ????

Many thanks in advance !

I see what you mean. Your dates clash with the conference on robotics and automation. The only hotel I found was through toulouse - scroll down, vacancies at Hotel Balladins Toulouse Express, 15 mins from Toulouse, will cost you 140 euros - nit sure of quality of hotel.
Good luck!

This seems to be a common problem in Toulouse - there are lots of conferences and business trips to that city it seems to me.
If you don't mind 1* hotels you could try Hotel des Arts - i have a tip at:
It is clean and in a very good location
They don't (i think) do on-line booking (you have to ring) so there's a chance they'll have something

Often when in trouble the local tourisme office is useful.

The web address is usually If you communicate in English the reply may take 24 hours but in my experience they are really helpful.

Incidentally we stayed in Toulouse and it was a beautiful city - worth the effort.

Travel Tips for Toulouse

The Garden of the Plants

by Klod5

Arranged in 1886, it welcomes, the year follows the world fair.

It is in the Garden of the Plants that one can see everything that remains the Castle Narbonnais, a tip of wall and a geminate window pair, of Arabian style.
One placed the doors of the Arsenal and the Commutation there also.

Once Toulouse knew how to honor its gardener : a monument commemorates the memory of the first sowers that worked in the Garden of the Plants. Although it deteriorated a little with time (and the European instructions), it preserves a lot of appeals of my childhood.

Learn some of the words to some hits by Charles Aznavour or Joe Dassin so you can sing along with everyone in the clubs! Whether you learn them ahead of time or during your stay, don't leave without singing outloud over a few drinks! You will love me, I promise.

There are few places very interesting not far from
this city. One and perhaps a place where you can
spend one or more days is the city of Albi.
Albí was the center of a great a bloody war in the
XIII century and the war took the name of the city.
Now is one of the most interesting cities of France. From the other side of the river Tarn, the
catedral and the surrounding buildings shines in red
color when the sun set.
Albí is such interesting than will need one page
only to explane all you can see.
Don´t forget to spend one or more days in the city!!
Not far, only half an hour going to the N 112 you can
visit the city of Castres, another interesting place
to stay for a while.

Brasserie of Le Donjons Hotel, Carcassonne.
The Brasserie of Le Donjon Hotel is a separate building just next door. A popular place it is alive with the sound of live jazz of the Dave Brubeck style. The food is good, the usual French simplicity of seafood salad followed, for us, by beautifully cooked salmon and then a tasteless chocolate cake. The jazz is too loud to talk over too often. Others said their meat was tasteless. The salmon on the fixed price menu is worth it.

Église des Jacobins

by black_mimi99

West of du Capitole is the brick-bult Gothic church of the Jacobins (1260-1292), with a cloister of 1307.
This extraordinary Gothic structure, flooded by day in multicoloured lgh from the huge stained windows, seems to defy gravity.
A single row of seven 22m- high columns, running smack down the middle of the nave, look for all the world like palm trees as they spread their fanned vaulting.
